Hore pitch invasion scary: Cayless
August 4, 2008 - 10:47PM
Parramatta skipper Nathan Cayless described as "scary" the manner in which serial pest Peter Hore gatecrashed the NRL match with Newcastle at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
Despite being banned for life from the venue, the long-time tormentor of sporting and cultural events somehow managed to avoid security both outside and inside the ground to run onto the field just 20 seconds after kickoff.
Hore, wearing a Chaser '07 T-shirt and with a guitar case on his back, jumped on top of Fuifui Moimoi as the Eels forward was being tackled.
In the end, the only thing Hore couldn't side step was a Brett Finch crash tackle with the Eels halfback driving the public annoyance into the ground with a copybook hit.
Hore was eventually escorted from the field by security before being taken away from the stadium by police.
"That was a bit unbelievable and it took the security a good five minutes to get out of there," Cayless said.
"He could have done anything to Fui. It was pretty scary.
"He was lucky Fui didn't punch him in the head, knock him out.
"I don't know what he was on. I think he was already off his head." It is the third time Hore has disrupted a rugby league game at the venue - and second since being handed a life ban.
The last time he rode onto the field on a tricycle wearing a Ned Kelly style mask before letting loose a bunch of kittens.
Hore also ran onto the track during a Melbourne Cup and Australian Grand Prix.
He is perhaps best known for interrupting Australia's 1997 World Cup soccer qualifier against Iran.
