SEN only played a snippet from Wallace where he said the obvious that this week is a season-defining game for us.

Poor goalkicking cost Tigers: Wallace

THREE days after the weekend's loss to Geelong, Terry Wallace was still unimpressed with some aspects of his team's performance against the best side in the competition.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, but the Cats had overhauled them by the first break and then cruised to the win.

But despite playing the premiers and runaway favourites for the flag, Wallace was unhappy with his team's kicking.

"We're obviously disappointed that we didn't put in a better showing," he said.

"We thought we let ourselves down a little bit, goalkicking-wise in particular.

"We missed some very easy shots at goal, which ended up blowing the margin out by more than perhaps we thought it should have been.

"They're a very good side, and you always take away a few lessons from those sort of games."

Wallace said everyone had pulled up well from the game, including star Matthew Richardson, who has been battling a knee injury, and Shane Edwards, who was taken from the ground after being slammed into it by a Darren Milburn tackle.

"We think that both Troy Simmonds, who got a knock late in the game, and Richo are both fine and we expect them to train – we had a light skills session where they didn't do much – but we expect them both to train on Thursday.

"(Shane) actually hurt his wrist in the fall, and that's probably been more of a concern to him than his head.

"But it seems to have come up – he trained and seemed to handle it alright, so there are no problems there."

No extra motivation for Tigers

Snippet from Sportal

"... there's going to be a lot of those [season-defining games] in the next few weeks for every side in the competition," Wallace said.

"I would say we can't make it if we don't win this week. Clearly, it'll be a lot more difficult if that's the case."

"Obviously they want to do the right thing [for McLeod], we'll want to do the right thing [for Joel], one of two clubs will."

"At this stage of the year if you're not on your mettle when you're playing for finals opportunities, well we'd be kidding ourselves."

"From that point of view I don't think it makes a big deal in the latter part of the season."
