2009 Fixture wish list

RICHMOND: Determined to fight tooth and nail for the Easter Thursday game against Carlton. Says president Gary March: "I think Collingwood has enough blockbusters in its portfolio at the moment to sort out their needs. They don't need to be coming after our games." CARLTON: Wants to preserve its Easter Thursday clash with Richmond. Prepared to play one home game on the Gold Coast next year in return for AFL cash. Would love to play more MCG games but is locked into Telstra Dome contract.
COLLINGWOOD: Interested in an Easter Thursday fixture against Geelong. Eight Friday night games still rate well. Believed to have requested no away game with North Melbourne because of the alternative jumper spat.
ESSENDON: Happy with this year's fixture, including contracted 7-4 home game split at Telstra Dome and MCG. Hopeful recent form surge will keep it in pecking order for Friday night and marquee games. Interstate travel this year (four games) at suitable level.
GEELONG: The club is happy with two or three Friday night games but not 10 or 11, chief executive Brian Cook says. Wants to maximise attendances, but also wants to maximise seven-day breaks.
HAWTHORN: Would not reveal fixturing submission but keen to lure several big drawcards down for Tasmanian games. President Jeff Kennett has spoken of playing an Aurora Stadium game against Collingwood.
MELBOURNE: An extraordinary 14 Sunday fixtures and one Monday fixture this year, an untenable situation. Would want a more even spread, but happy with MCG games.
NORTH MELBOURNE: Wants to increase two Friday night games to four. Keen on more free-to-air games after playing plenty on Foxtel this year.
ST KILDA: Will play one home game on the Gold Coast, but happy with this year's draw. Keen to continue trend of fewer six-day breaks and wants to avoid two Subiaco Oval clashes.
WESTERN BULLDOGS: Last year of contracts to play games in Canberra and Darwin next season. Unsure of those deals for 2010. Believe they deserve more MCG encounters. Want fewer Sunday games. Eleven this year meant too little down time for players.
