Browny season over

Brown may be back for Tigers
Tony Sheahan | Herald-Sun | August 24, 2008

RICHMOND coach Terry Wallace and reigning club champion Matthew Richardson yesterday said there was a chance injured forward Nathan Brown would return to the team from injury to play Melbourne next Sunday.

"We've kept him alive while we're alive (and) although he hasn't been able to play the last couple of weeks, he's improving all the time," Wallace said.

"If it's not a live game I just wouldn't risk him. Blokes who have got us through to this stage have done a pretty good job."

Brown hasn't played since the Round 19 loss to Adelaide, but Richardson said he thought the small forward could overcome soreness in his lower left leg.

"Browny is a quality player and we need him in our side," Richardson said.

"Hopefully he can get back next week and we'll get the win and then we'll see what happens for the finals. But we need him back in our side, definitely."

The leg is not the same one that caused Brown complications after a horrible break midway through 2005.

"He did a little bit of training this week, so we'll just see how he comes up," Richardson said.

Brown is believed to have undergone scans last week to check for stress fractures.

Wouldnt think Browny will play unless we make finals.

If results go our way, surely we are good enough beat Melbourne without Brown.

Word is that he does have a hot spot in his good leg as a result of knock about a month ago.

Wallace said after the game Browny won't play next week if we're out of it so he won't play. Not good news if he has a hot spot in his good leg  :-\.

Season over for sore Tiger (Herald-Sun)

Season over for sore Tiger
Mark Stevens | August 26, 2008

RICHMOND star Nathan Brown has revealed his season is over because of leg soreness.

Brown received a knock to the leg in Round 12 against Melbourne, but despite discomfort played a starring role in the Tigers' revival in the second half of the season.

The pain eventually beat Brown, who was a late withdrawal from the Round 18 clash against Geelong. He returned in Round 19 against Adelaide, but has not played since.

Brown told radio Triple M at the weekend he would not play again this year if St Kilda knocked the Tigers out of the finals race by beating Adelaide.

Scans showed that Brown was at risk of a stress fracture if he continued to push through and play.

But the good news for Tiger fans is the injury is to Brown's left leg - not the right leg broken in a collision with Demon Matthew Whelan in 2005.

I have no problem with this sort of thing
Opposition players have a history of targeting players with injuries to test them out when they come back
Hiding the true injury from a public who really don't need to know sits fine with me
