Finals not too far away now: Wallace
« on: August 28, 2008, 08:49:50 PM »
Snippet from Wallace's EOTT report ....

We are very keen to finish on a winning note this Sunday against Melbourne at the MCG, as this would give us an excellent second half of the season record, and this is something we can certainly build on moving forward.... There’s a great record in AFL football, in recent times, of teams finishing strongly and then taking that winning feeling into the following season...... Finals are not for us in 2008, but they are not too far away now, and you would expect our talented group of young players to mature and be even better with another solid pre-season under their belts.

It's funny how your expectations as a supporter changes so quickly. At the start of the season I expected us to perhaps double our win tally from 2007 but thought we were more likely to finish with around 5 wins. Now I'm expecting finals at all costs in 2009!

I understands many teams go up and down, particularly young teams, but our lows will be higher now and our highs exciting. I just hope we don't do a Geelong and drop down (eg 2006) when they seemed on the brink of success. They were able to ride it out....we couldn't :(

Finals are just the start.  :gotigers
