Demetriou gives Casey Blessing

These were just several of many issues raised at a media forum held in Melbourne yesterday. The forum is a joint venture between the Australian Football Media Association and sponsors CUB.

Would-be president of Richmond Brendan Schwab was not present. He would have had an uncomfortable time of it had he been.

Under spirited questioning Demetriou said that he was confident incumbent Tigers president Clinton Casey and his board were more than capable of successfully leading Richmond from its present mess.

While the Tigers' loss may climb as high as a raw $2.6million before being offset by Jack Dyer Foundation money, Demetriou said the club was working on a business plan - with AFL input - and that new CEO Steve Wright had settled into his role.

Schwab had said this week that he would demand Casey resign or the former board member would press ahead with a bid for an early election. History shows with frightening clarity that if you do not have the support and goodwill of the AFL, life can be very tough. This will prove Schwab's weakest point in any planned revolution

Tell me something, if the AFL is involved in working business plans with the club - wouldn't they have access to our financials.
Food for thought on why would they be backing the club if there was anything shoddy happening.

Froars you are correct. you will find that the AFL has access to the financials and thats fair enough. If there was anything that wasnt right, it would have surfaced straight away.
Its no surprise that Mickey Mouse and his gang havent the support of the AFL.

And they certainly would not have put their names behind such a glowing backing of what they're doing down there.

All bets off in draft scramble

It is believed Schwab will run a campaign based on Richmond's fragile financial performance and one-sided balance sheet. Schwab's concerns are not shared at any level at AFL House.

So why are Schwab and co wasting everyone's time and energy with this whole charade?  Is there something we don't know, or are they just in denial? :-\

Political desperation maybe TS. There'll be no more poor on-field results to rely on and Miller and Wallace will be handling the trade/draft period. His only chance from now on is to hunt for negative off-field issues.

Any half-decent alternative should be wiping (in fact should have already wiped) the floor with Casey. Just goes to show what a shocking decision by this alternative ticket to have Schwab and Welsh or any former board members as "leaders".

Well, he can hunt all he likes.  He’s fooling no one. >:(  >:(

Exactly right MT, and that’s why I’m so against Schwab.  He gets rolled by Casey, who is green at the game of running a footy Club.  Yet wants to take over as President. :help

What, so he can go and get toweled up by the Presidents of other AFL Clubs who do know what they’re doing?  And also let RFC get walked all over by the AFL?

If he thinks he’s wanted anywhere near RFC then he’s kidding himself.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
