Bateman has rolled his ankle at training and Croad didn't show thanks to his injured foot. Geez I'd laugh if the Hawks get done this week after coming out again today boasting about how they'll win 2 flags within 5 years. I'd be over the moon with one flag given how hard they are to win rather than testing footy karma.

That makes 2 of us.

i cant stan those pricks. right up there with the blues and pies for me.

Doggies competitive so far. It'd be easier to watch the game on tv without all the bloody seagulls lol.

lol - they were their own worst enemy at times the doggies, one stage they actually kicked it to the pack of seagulls.
Maybe they thought they were there for support or got confused with their alignment  :rollin
At least their fans had something to cheer about for a while, that's all you can ask for !

Just not good enough as a club the Dogs as they do not take their opportunies and they lack the killer instinct and the polish when the game needs to be taken by the scruff of the neck. Geelong were not that impressive but they have a hell of a lot in the tank based on what we saw tonight so look out next week. Prelim finals traditionally can be harder to win for sides who have dominated years as the Cats have this year and look at Geelong in the corresponding game last year or Essendon in 1999.

As for the Dogs only 5 prelims in 47 years since they last made a GF in 1961.
1985-10 point loss to Hawks
1992-64 points loss to Cats
1997-2 point loss to Crows
1998-68 point loss to Crows
2008-29 point loss to Cats.
Pretty much sums them up as a footy club lamentably for them.

Apart from the 97 one they were underdogs in the other 4 PFs too.

Geelong had their worst game for a long time making uncharacteristic mistakes for them but the Doggies had their chances in the second half in front of goal and choked. 6 straight points, 2 OOTF and Eagleton not making the distance from 35m. Bad kicking is bad footy and once again an AFL side pays big time for poor goalkicking.

Hawkers looking the better side but Buddy is off in the rooms with a wrist injury and Hodge isn't too right either spitting out blood.

The Saints are terrible.

They won't win a flag with the side they have.

They need to make a few tough decisions, get some draft picks and in 3-4 years time launch another assault with Riewoldt 28-29 years old.

St Kilda were lucky to be in the top 4 in the first place. The only one who can hold his head up tonight is Hudghton for keeping Buddy quiet. You're right wayne about some hard decisions need to be made at Moorabbin Seaford. Dal Santo probably first on the trade table. Fiora has played he's last game. What was Lyon thinking bringing him in as a late change in a Prelim  :help. Every year one side in the top 4 drops out of the Eight the following year and it looks like it'll be the Saints. They've topped up with King, Sneider and Dempster and it hasn't worked.

Goddard will be facing a long holiday for decking Mitchell.

I agree, get a first rounder for him and hope to do a Hawthorn 2004 draft.

Inject some youth into a core of 4-5 really good players and hope in 3-4 years time they're playing in a Grand Final like the Hawks.

I agree but do the Saints have the courage to do it. History of their club would say no. They've held onto their 2004 core and it's been a failure. Look at Kosi  - injury free he could've been anything but him and the Saints has never worked out well together.

I guess on the bright side they'll be one less side we'll have to worry about in the next few years.
