Caro in today's Age...

Although international financial pressures have stalled — but not halted — the Tigers' potential new major sponsorship agreement with insurance giant AIG, the club is about to announce a renewed relationship with automobile manufacturer Nissan, which has committed to become the club's new shorts sponsor.

Thought I heard Matrix was the front of the shorts and Nissan the back.

Not sure which one was front or back but that's what I heard too.

Whatever happens congrats and well done to the club on gaining such high-profile sponsors and more $$$ to boot in such an volatile economic climate.

Car maker joins Tiger army
Martin Boulton | December 19, 2008

IN THE afterglow of former Eagle Ben Cousins' first training session and press conference, the Tigers have announced a new deal with Nissan.

The automobile manufacturer signed on as the club's shorts sponsor for the next two years in a deal believed to be worth $300,000.

Richmond is still seeking a major sponsor for next year, but chief executive Steven Wright said the club was thrilled to form a renewed partnership with Nissan.

"To have wonderful support off-field from major companies such as Nissan greatly strengthens our push to restore this club to its rightful place in the competition," he said.

"We believe we're on the verge of the next exciting era at Tigerland.

"We are about to embark on a $20 million redevelopment of our facilities and we have a talented group of players coming through."

Richmond skipper Chris Newman said the new shorts sponsor was a perfect fit.

"Quite a few of our players drive Nissan vehicles already," he said.

"There are several Muranos and Patrols parked in our Punt Rd Oval carpark."

The return of Nissan follows those of former Tigers skipper Wayne Campbell, after an assistant coaching role with the Western Bulldogs, and Kevin Sheedy, who helped formulate the "Cousins to Punt Road" plan.

I was going to ask the same question as torch. Is Nissan replacing Matrix Men or are we going to have both (front and back)?

Great news anyhow  :thumbsup.
