wouldn't mind it one bit.  doesn't do any harm at all.  the more so called blockbuster games we can get involved in the better, there is more coverage, more ads, and most likely more fans at the game, no matter how trivial the blockbuster game is.

I guess blockbuster games against teams like Melbourne and the Kangaroos might help lift a crowd of 30,000 to 45,000.

If both teams are travelling very well, then it'll maybe pull in 60,000 - 70,000 people.

Except there comes a point when the draw is full with 'blockbuster games' they lose potency in their ability to draw a crowd and media attention. Especially when Blockbusters are no longer drawing the 70,000+ that Anzac Day, Dreamtime @ the G etc draw.

There needs to be a traditional rivalry built for these blockbusters to work and get the crowds the AFL wants to these things. We have no post-WWII history with Melbourne even though we've been co-tenants for over 40 years. Since we moved to the 'G in 1965 they've done sweet stuff all. If you wanted to artifically boost crowds to Melbourne games you would have to follow this "youth" theme and let all U15s in for free plus free petrol vouchers to and from Mts Buller, Hotham and Falls Creek lol.
