Very Impressed with this interview. He really speaks well, he's comming across as sincere and very honest, if he stays clean I think we have a great asset to the club. Great interview Ben.

Cousins in between Foley and Newman.

Ricky Nixon called Terry Santa Claus.

Cousins very grateful to Richmond.

Last year long and humbling, getting the opportunity is fantastic.

Used last 12 months to rehabilitate, and happy with results. It's ongoing, that's part of his affliction.

RE: HUN gangster article. He has genuine friendship with these guys. No criminal links, just friendships.

Someone (Peter Morris from Channel 7, Ricky Nixon called him a knob  :lol) kept asking questions about underworld people. He was stopped and journos told to ask football questions.

Lot of concern was getting permission from AFL, but the hard part has been finding a club.

Went from thinking he was a good prospect to realising footy may be over for him.

Has kept looking after his body, confident it'll be right.

Has to make contact with other addicts as part of rehabilitation.

If he got overlooked, would have been even harder as a 31 year old to find a club.

Wrapt to get back into it.

Confident he can fulfil his end of the bargain. He's clean and positioned well for the next twelve months.

First person to go through this publically in football forum. Hopes to prove other clubs wrong.

Humbled by the response, especially Richmond supporters in the past 48 hours.

Round 1, hasn't thought about it, not a walk up start.

Puts high expectation on himself, looks forward to living up to our (Tiger supporters) high expectations.

Being called a role model sits better with him now than previously.

Believes he has earnt the right to a second chance.

Looking forward to making move to Melbourne.

He thinks he can get back to his best.

Media circus - it's all part of it, feel sorry for friends and family having to go through it.

Newman

Players looking at is as a positive. Adds experience, and is a great player.

Foley

Great experience, our midfielders will learn a lot, great to play with him.

Cousins

Knows a few of the Richmond guys, great to be involved again.

No guarantees in football, he'll train hard and leave no stone unturned.

Well stupid me initially got into the social club  (simply walked up the stairs with my backpack lol) as they were setting up the press conference and after staying 5 minutes and no one telling me to leave I decided to go and fetch a couple of friends to come up and watch it. By the time we got back 5 minutes later they had security guards on the stairs refusing entry. Bugger... bugger ... bugger!  :banghead

We were left to watch part of it on the screen inside the Ch 9 tv van parked outside the entrance until too many people showed up wanting to watch it and guy from Ch 9 told everyone to leave.

Cuz spoke very well from what I saw. I'll go and watch the full interview now. Thanks wayne for the summary. Much appreciated  :bow  :cheers.

Pretty sure it was Rocky Nixon
My parents bought me a Richmond jumper and enrolled me in a junior footy clinic in 1981...look at me now.

Sounded like it was our 'friend' Damien Barrett asking the underworld questions. Nixon called whoever it was a knob lol.

Excellent interview.
Came across as very genuine and sincere.
Spoke well and seems to have some sort of regret and remorse for what has occurred.

Motivation is a wonderful thing.
If he is 100% about this and wants to succeed and stick it up AFL administrators, AFL board, other AFL clubs then we have nothing to worry about.

Peter Morriss from Ch 7 news asked the bulk of the underworld questions

I listened to the entire press conference (sadly couldn't post until now) I have to say I was super impressed with how Ben Cousins presented himself. He spoke well.

The the tougher questions the easiest thing to do would have been to simply say "not prepared to answer that" but with the exception of going into real detail about his drug habit I thought he answered everything well.

As I said I was super impressed
