Most Experienced Recruit Ever ?
« on: December 21, 2008, 02:52:58 PM »
With the recruiting of a 238 game veteran, the question is - has Richmond ever recruited a player with more experience ?

The one in recent memory is Mark Graham when he played 20 games in 2005, how many more had he played at the Hawks ?

David Cloke when KB drafted him back in 1991

223. (243 all up).

David Cloke had played 290 games when redrafted in 1990. Played another 43 in 2 seasons for total 333.

Ian stewart (afl team of Century) was pretty handy, arriving with two brownlows , a couple of B&Fs and a flag already in the bag...helping the tiges to win back to back whilst adding another brownlow along the way :gotigers

There are a couple of Hawks I can think of;

How many did Greg Dear, Al Martello, Woosha Welsh & Geoff Ablett have on the board pre-Tigers ?

From memory, Peter McCormack (who was full back with the Pies) had played over 200 games when he arrived at Tigerland in the late 80s. Then of course, there was Paul Hudson, which was a baffling one - even allowing for Danny Frawley  being involved at the time.

Tim Watson was 31 when he came back after a year off and won a flag as a 32 y.o.

Lockett did the same at 36 after 2 years out of the game but that was a flop.

Bartlett and Bourke !!

There have been 2 players that have been recruited to Fitzroy that have played over 300 games prior to donning the crimson, blue & gold.

Can anyone name them ?

I think Paul Sproule was 29 when he won a flag with us after crossing over from Essendon.

KB isn't it. Just a fraction older than St Francis.
