Wallace on SEN and Nine - 5/1/09
« on: January 05, 2009, 11:46:38 AM »
Boys running the Tan

Most boys back in good fettle(?)
Dan Jackson won - Time 12:54
Cousins didn't run Tan
Completed 8:30 session - 2k run
Cousins back, keen as mustard
Cousins will make selection more competitive, White, Jackson will pressure the older guys

Nothing else really new, looking forward to year blah blah, 4 years of planning blah, proof is in pudding blah blah.

A Ch 9 newsbreak said Cousins "failed" to run the Tan this morning.

Cuz will be on a modified program. He's been keeping fit but they will have the kid gloves out for him. No news here.

I didn't get to write it all down, but it sounded as though Cousins didn't run it because he's not as advanced as others.

EDIT: They're replaying it now on SEN, I missed the start of it.

Ch 9 had another newsbreak saying Wallace has said Cousins is at least a month away from peak fitness.

Exactly. He trained at Punt Rd anyway as wayne said so there's nothing wrong or unusual. Even if Cuz is at least a month away that's only mid-Feb so no drama. He's been training with Perth since well before we drafted him. We'll have him targetting round 1; not the first NAB Cup game.

Thanks for the summary of what Wallace said wayne  :cheers. More positive news of Jacko leading the way this preseason as well as Whitey. Fingers crossed this all means our midfield depth will be significantly improved and we won't have mid-game/third quarter fadeouts as we did in 2008.

ps. "fettle" - Proper or sound condition. Mental or emotional state; spirits: was in fine fettle  :thumbsup.

Wallace said it'll take 4-6 weeks for Cousins to reach the level of the rest of the group. When asked about round 1 Plough said expectations will be for Ben to step up over the next couple of months to show us what he can do. He's on a modified program and did his training elsewhere (Punt Rd) rather than at the Tan.

They showed briefly vision of the boys running as a group. Those not running/in rehab watched on. It looked like Cotchin and Thursty were spectators along with Cousins.

Rainesy was at the front of the group on Ch 9 news looking very fit. Make or break year for him in 2009.

I'll be a lot happier when I see or hear Cotch is training fully. He's been a while in the rehab group.

Yep it's the achilles (I think in his 'good' leg) although didn't they said before Christmas it would be fine by the new year? :-\

But he is only 18 so no need to rush anything right now. Take as long as he needs then another week
