AFL Year 2009: Players To Watch
By John Clark
Foxsports | January 27, 2009

THE 2009 AFL year promises thrills and spills aplenty for fans, and foxsports.com.au names the players we expect to feature prominently in the highlights reels.

Richmond

No other club has generated as much hype and hysteria this off-season than the boys from Punt Road.

The Tigers closed 2008 with wins in six of their final eight matches, including a stirring victory over eventual premiers Hawthorn.

Emerging midfielder Trent Cotchin is already tipped for greatness after just 15 games, club champion Brett Deledio will get better, forgotten man Mark Coughlan is training the house down, and then there's a bloke by the name of Ben Cousins to add.

Fans flocked to see the disgraced former West Coast champion train; imagine the build-up to his first game.

With Terry Wallace coaching for his contract and the sleeping giant opening one eye, everyone will be watching the yellow and black in 2009. Whatever happens, expect it to be packed with drama.

There we go again with the "discraced former west coast champion", I am going to point it out every time I read a sentence that discribes Ben Cousins in this manner.
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

Shaun Hampson is the No.1 man"

Yeah I reckon I will be, but it will make people aware of every time the media disrespect him in that way.

Great to finally hear some neutral AFL people discussing the tigers in a positive light.

Bodes well

I understand the frustration & I'll be a lot happier when they begin referring to him as 'Richmond champion Ben Cousins' :D ;) but that's a respect that has to be earnt and after just over a month at Tigerland without having a kick, Ben's not there yet obviously.

Cuz will do his talking on the football field.

Realistically,ur not a part of the team until you have played a match.

By round 10,circumstances permitting,we should be hearing,"Richmond champion Ben Cousins"
