Cotchin's injury - How bad is it?
« on: February 10, 2009, 10:36:22 PM »
Well I am sick of hearing rumours all over the place that Cotchin's injury won't see him play for a further 6 months, midway through the year etc.
He's already missed 3 months pre season and he's still not running..
This kid is the most talented young footballer to walk through the doors of Punt Road for many a year and I am stuffed if I want him lame before he gets a chance to ply his wares. :-\

Forget the PR spin, how bad is it? :pray :rollin

Well he won't be ready for round 1 according to Wallace in the Australian.

"Wallace said all bar Cotchin would be available for the start of the premiership."

Tezza along with a couple of other coaches were at Club 80 last night and said that the last two weeks have been good as Cotch had no pain in his ankle.

Said that they have had numerous experts assess this, they've sent the kid to the AIS, had people from the AIS come to Melbourne

Cambo (I think it was) said he is due to start running again next week.

They all repeated it is not a long term injury, but just a case of a developing body dealing with the worklaod of AFL.

They are hoping for round 1 that's the goal but they are taking the cautious approach

Reminded us all he is only 18

Cambo on Cotch

Cotchin, whose last pre-season was ruined by an inflamed achilles, is suffering from an identical injury and didn't train at Victoria Park this morning.

Richmond assistant coach Wayne Campbell admitted it was looking increasingly unlikely the 2007 No.2 draft pick would be ready for the start of the home-and-away season.

"It's stretching it now. He's still an outside chance because of the enormous talent that he's got, but he would be underdone a bit,'' Campbell said.

"He's going better the last couple of days and gone back to doing some strengthening work and we can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

"It won't be much longer after that if he doesn't play Round 1.''

The word around training today was Cotch will be back by round 4. He starts running next week as WP mentioned.
