Tim Gossage on SEN
« on: February 14, 2009, 02:11:32 PM »
Tim Gossage from Perth on SEN. He interviewed Cuz last night.

* Cuz said he's confident in how Richmond will go this year. Grateful for the opportunity. Flattered and humbled by the support especially from Tiger supporters. Gossage said Cuz said he wasn't planning on coming to Richmond but have come at a good time.

* Cuz reckons he'll play in 2 weeks. Wallace said they'll revisit how he is going in two weeks as mentioned in the papers today.

* Polak got on stage too. Polly said he played in the scratch match last week and he's way ahead of where they thought he would be. He still gets tired later in the day and memory is still the issue but he's getting there. Gossage said he was overwhelmed. Tiger officals are also overwhelemed by how much he has improved.

* Cuz got the Brad Pitt spotlight but Polly got the most sustained cheering and applause from the pro-Tiger crowd.

* Total chaos since Cuz has been in Perth. Media following and covering his every move. No tv rule imposed at the function last night.

* 1000 WA RFC members (600 more than last year). Even a female WA Labor politician and former minister has quit as a West Coast member and become a Richmond member because of Cousins.

* Cuz was the last to leave the function. He did a lot of ground work last night. Cuz was still signing autographs, guernseys, posters etc 30 mins after the other players had left.

* A mountain of #32 RFC jumpers were sold.

Great work cyclops.
Geez 600 extra memberships in WA? :o
Amazing stuff. Benny's already a star for us and he hasn't even had a kick in the Y&B yet.

Hey All

I actually went last night

The night was packed, loud, noisy and plenty of Beer

Got my photo taken with the great RICHO, Cousins was happy to sign anything but insisted he wouldnt pose for photos. Terry Wallace, Gary March, Foley, Polak, Morton, Johnson and Cotchin were there. LMAO at getting players autographs but insisting to my wife that I didnt want Johnsons as it would diminish the value.

Cousins spoke about how he thinks we are well placed to make a charge, happy with being at a Melbourne based club and thanked the many people for supporting him.

They also had Weightman, Michael Mitchell, Peter Wilson, Darren Gaspar attend last night

Started about 7:15 players generally lasted until 8:45, Benny wasnt the last to leave but he did hang around longer than most, Cotchin stayed longer than Ben. Polak he was happy to hang around till around 9:30, his brother and family were there last night, I had the privledge of standing next to him when the WA Richmond team of the century was revealed. He cringed when he was named on the bench and his brother was taking the pee out of him that the likes of Mitch Morton was in the starting 22 on a stuff.

LMAO @ the Richmond WA team of the Century naming Ben Cousins as Rover considering the guy hasnt played a game yet. Naming Mitch on a stuff and Polak on the interchange, talk about short of players no offence but I'm sorry for being a sour puss but the whole concept is cheap and corny, I also cringed and LMFAO at the list.

The whole night was good, got me out of the house with the Mrs but its wasnt worth 120 a head but hey it goes to the club so I didnt mind. I have to say the crowd was a bit rude too noisy, Tim Gossage actually started to get a bit annoyed at the supporters especially when some past players were trying to talk and tell us about their fondest memories at tigerland. Except Peter Wilson, I booed him the traitor. LOL Nah he spoke well, mentioned one of the best moments for him at Richmond was the fact he sang the club song 11 times over 3 years, the prick was taking the pee.

I also spoke to Axel for a few minutes, the boys cant wait to get stuck into the season, you can tell Cousins just wants the season to start so he doesnt have to keep going to these functions, he was polite and happy last night but you could tell he was uncomfortable with all the attention. He actually stayed in a corner of the room last night and flanked by a few friends and some family.

The Club raked in the cash, they sold all 50 signed Ben Cousins jumpers with "WA supporters Group 2009" on each one for $375 a pop, I on the other hand just got Ben to sign this years training top which I paid only $85  They also had an auction of Ben's first ever training top, framed and signed etc... went for $1400, they sold a trip for 2 package to the G in Round 12 against the Eagles, with before and after access to the players room, toss the coin, RFC function for $6,000 and last but not least 4 tickets to the Round 22 game against the eagles with access to the players room after and before the match for $4000.

The club would be pretty happy with Ben Cousins since picking him up I would think.
There's no I in team, but there is 5 i's in Individual Brilliance.

We could do with a Peter Wilson type player right at the moment. Wilson and Mitchell were good players but they came to Richmond when we were really really poohouse.

To be honest, I thought Wilson was one of the most overrated and selfish footballers going around.  I didn't rate him at all - his output never got close to his reputation.

:lol

Did they get Alan Bond back to introduce Dale Wineman lol.

Surely Wiley, Mal Brown, Rioli (recruited from South Freo), BT, Monteath, Norman McIntosh from the 1920s, Gaspar, Mitchell and Cogs made it.
Wilson, Mitch, Cuz lol, Polly were named in it.
Whale Roberts, David Palm, John Annear, Merenda, Prescott, Tim Gepp, Stevan Jackson, Krakouer, Ash Blurton, Marty McGrath for kicking 5 on debut lol. Scraping the bottom of the barrel after about 12 names  :P.
Rance, JON and Gourdis are also from WA.

If it was "Team Of The Century" then theoretically they only had 8 years to pick from!!   :o
