[Hellenic Tiger]

Hi all another footy season is upon us and we are all hoping the improvement continues into this season.

Anyway just a few personal football related questions to break the excitement of Thursday and the upcoming season. We all share our thoughts on our views on the Tiges and footy please feel free to contribute.


Team you hate the most. For me Carlton. I will never live down the 1982 GF and my hatred grows by the day. Liars Cheats Thieves Crooks Criminals Filth.

Team you respect the least. For me North Melbourne. Shinboner Spirit yeah right. Club with a complex. Will never be a real footy club in my eyes. Always live in every other teams shadow

Team I want us to beat this year the most. St Kilda. We owe them we are a much bigger club than them. For a club of St Kilda's stature and lack of success to have the wood on us is a slur on us as a club and our history even for the last 26 years.


How it came about that you supported the tigers? Indoctrination, demographics, loved them as kid? For me I was born in 1974 and supported them ever since I found out that they won the flag in the yea of my birth which coincidently was in 1980 another premiership year.

3 Favourite Childhood heroes. For me Michael Roach, Jimmy Jess and David Cloke

First game of footy. For me Round 20 1982 at the G against Carlton. We lost

Team you hate the most? Collingwood. 1 lousey flag in over 50 years and they think they are the greatest football club in the universe  . Then there's their bourbon-filled swill of supporters  .

Team you respect the least? Freo. Worst colors. Worst song. What's the point of them being in the comp other than to give us 4 points lol.

Team I want us to beat this year the most? Same here Tucky - the Saints. A 10 goal flogging of those pretenders to boot.

How it came about that you supported the tigers? Dad worked for the Club when I was a little kid. There's nothing like being at a game when the Tigers are flying so I was hooked. 

3 Favourite Childhood heroes? KB, Roach, Rioli

First game of footy? It wasn't a Richmond game. We lived in Footscray and it was a game at the Western Oval. I can't remember who it was against but we knew someone from the doggies and I got to meet Gary Dempsey when he played for them before moving to North Melbourne and thought he was a giant  . I must have been about 4 years old.

Team You Hate The Most?

Essendon.

growing up in the essendon district, playing for an essendon district club, going to school with essendon supporters, "MADE ME SICK". essendon's successful years made them look like "GODS" according to the supporters. they cry over silly little things, and are arrogant, when those pric*s lose, i am happy and when we beat them, it has made my year.

Team You Respect The Least?

Geelong.

bunch of wanna be known clubs. after they turn sh*t, there supporters will leave untill they come good again! happy hawthorn beat them in the final, hawthorn has personality, where as geelong have none!


Team(s) I Want Us To Beat This Year The Most?

Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton, North Melbourne, Sydeny, Adelaide, St Kilda

to me, if we beat N.M, Syd, Adel and St K, i know we have improved. because those stuff***ers play us like a bottle, and they play like a team, which expose our weakness in team play! the other three, because they are the 'powerhouse teams' and we are fourth behind them!


How It Came About That You Supported The Tigers?

Unlce (mum's brother), Dad both supported Richmond so Influence!

If Tasmania Came Into The AFL In 2012, Having Gold Coast And West Sydeny In Already. The AFL Will Have 19 Teams, But Want 18 Teams, Which Victorian Clubs Do You Want To See Merge? What Will They Be Called?

Team I hate most.....West Coast Eagles.Once you live in Perth for a while you kind of get sick of how the Eagles are put on a pedestal.The only explanation for a loss being the umpires are in conspiracy with the AFL blah blah blah.Words cant describe how much I hate them.An eagles loss is ALMOST as good as a tiger win for me.

Team I respect the least....Fremantle. They just want to be the best team in WA not Australia.LOSERS.

Team I want to beat most this year...Geelong-That would give us much needed credibility.

How it came about that I supported the Tigers......Back in Bendigo where I grew up .....I was 6 years old and my best mate at school came to class wearing a Hawthorn footy jumper.I thought he looked kinda cool so I instructed my mother to get me one.Mums being Mums got the teams mixed up and came home with a Richmond one.It was 1980 so I thought I was on a good thing....Although I could of enjoyed 6 premierships I dont regret a thing

3 Childhood heroes......KB,Mourice Rioli and Garry Jack(he was a Balmain Tiger)

4 First game of Footy.....Dad took me to a Geelong/Collingwood game in 1981.I think I lost interest after about 10 mins and remember playing with bottle caps in the dirt.
First time I saw the tigers was 1993 at Subi.Good old Jeff Hogg at full forward.We got flogged and did the walk of shame at 3/4 time

Team I hate most          There are so many but living in Sydney and putting up with the only game I see live all year being very    painful in recent history I would have to say the Swans

Team I respect the least  Saints, so much talent and oppurtunity and have let it slip

Team I want to beat most this year    Swans closely followed by Sanits

How it came about that I supported the Tigers   Young impressionable kid when the RFC was running hot

How it came about that I supported the Tigers  why i barrack for the Tiges
 in 1993 I was working with this bloke Tom from VIC who would of gone well in this forum  A one eyed richmond fanatic coming from NZ i didnt have any footy history so living in perth i was following the eagles  ( wash my mouth out with soap)  anyhow Tom was tragically killed in a car crash along with his missus, at the funeral one coffin was decked in blue and yellow (wce) the other in yellow and black so i said Tommy no other person here will so i will pick up your Richmond passion and carry the banner for you and Ive been the Tigerman ever since    gradually been gathering an understanding of just what that means of our history and past  so now i too am proud to be  OER

3 Childhood heroes      my childhood was well over when I found out about the Tigers but in the early days I enjoyed watching Knighter, Michael Gale and  Bondy

Team you hate the most? Carlton. They've just overtaken Collingwood in the past year or so as my most hated. Been terrible for years, finish below us on the ladder and they carry on like they've just won 3 flags and are shoe-ins for a fourth!

Team you respect the least? Port. They can't draw a crowd in a two team footy mad town.

Team I want us to beat this year the most? The Saints, and by a lot. Fair enough if they'd had Geelong type form and no-one could beat them, but they are a just above average team and they always flog us.

How it came about that you supported the tigers? Dad barracked for them, and I somehow stuck with them through the 80's, 90's and 00's. They've been bad the whole time i've been alive!   

3 Favourite Childhood heroes? Free, Broderick, Maxfield

First game of footy? It was a Richmond game, don't know who against. I remember sitting next to a nice old man and buying peanuts.

Team you hate the most?   How do you seperate the 2 Cs' - 1 week I think I hate 1 more, then the next week it has changed back again. Scum would be happy to see them both fold .....

Team you respect the least? - Franchise teams - Maybe not so much Brisbane (maybe it's the Fitzroy connection  ???) - St Blunda - 1 Flag and they have been giving us Tigers a ribbing for years - fugem

Team I want us to beat this year the most? See ? # 1 The 2 I enjoyed most last year was Cartank Rnd 1 after they and their scum supporters were dribbling poop all summer. And the Essendon Farewell for Hird and Sheeds - LMRAO@that one  
Tankers will take the mantle in Rnd 1 over skunks. Would be great to see us get a win at the litter box Rnd 2 also

How it came about that you supported the tigers? Born in 66 - Whole dads side of family were Bombers and I never once thought about anything bar the Tigers in my memory, must of been the Black and Yellow blood in my veins.

3 Favourite Childhood heroes? Rich - Roach Flee KB - Others Robbie Flower, Keith Greig

First game of footy? Seriously man I would love to be able to remember - Remember going out to lakeside oval - never made it to Glenferrie - Pretty sure I dont remember being at a game Royce Hart played - so presuming 79 I started going. I remember I used to drag my braother with me early days and the folks we be out partying and we would go back to nanas for her famous casserole and watch Hawaii 5-0 - would of been all of 13 years old. - When how I figure it I have been to over 500 games it all becomes a bit of a blur

See above with honorable mentions to St Kilda and Hawthorn.

How it came about that you supported the tigers?
Grandmother lived in the heart of Richmond.
Took me to plenty of games at the G. We were real good then and I was hooked.

M Rioli(Mr Magic), D Weightman, M Roach. (G Raines until he defected was my number 1)

First game of footy?
I was but a tacker.
Tigers vs South Melbourne sometime around 1978.

Team you respect the least? Freo. I don't think this needs an explanation.

Team I want us to beat this year the most? Hawthorn. Their supporters are real idiots.

How it came about that you supported the tigers? '73 / '74 GFs. Family didn't follow footy but by the time I was 6 it was time to have a footy team. Tigers were the best of the best of the best. No brainer really.

3 Favourite Childhood heroes? Royce Hart, KB, Sheedy.

First game of footy? I don't know if it is the first but I can remember a game vs North watching names like hart, sheedy, bartlett along with cable, schimmelbusch, dench and blight. (don't know if they were all in the same team, might be several memories mixed up). Sitting undercover on the first level of the old Southern Stand behind the cheer squad. Pigeons in the rafters. Uncomfortable wooden bench seats.  Good memories.
