i can back up my claims, all you have to do is discuss this with anyone who has half an idea about footy and they will agree, only blinded tiger fans would not agree but higgins impacts much more than deledio end of story

why , he works harder and wants it more

Tiger Time you are right mate.

Higgins is streets ahead of Lids right now. Stats prove it and what a find he has been for my super coach team.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

I hope you told your kids about how good a footballer daddy was and how he played SO MANY games of AFL and how he influenced so many games. Do you barrack for the Tiges? Be honest there is something more to this belittling of lids, what is it did he steal your lunch or something?

Just some stats to back up the Shaun "the gun" Higgins vs Brett deledio "debate"

http://finalsiren.com/
Player Totals
Player           MT K    Avg H    Avg D      Avg M   Avg HO Avg T   Avg FF FA G   Avg B   SC Rat   Avg
Brett Deledio  88 922 10.5 786 8.9 1708 19.4 504 5.7 22  0.3 165 1.9  69 44 70 0.8  45 465 6934 78.8
Shaun Higgins 36 252 7     244 6.8 496   13.8 129 3.6 4   0.1 76   2.1 18 22  41 1.1 23 269 2160  60
Totals         124 1174 9.5 1030 8.3 2204 17.8 633 5.1 26 0.2 241 1.9 87 66 111 0.9 68 734 9094 73.3

But of course Higgins gets tagged routinely and has won a club best and fairest

Anyway i think I have already wasted too much time on a blue red and white troll

You're getting tired possum your spelling is wavering  ,whose ben the tiger ? To expect better from Lids is not to bag all over a forum fruitcake, it might give you some dark pleasure but does not help the cause . As does denigrating any young player on an open forum not really help. They have families to , just as you do. Think about what you write ,it might be your son one day.

i know one stat doesn't tell you a lot, but looking at their disposals, you'd have to say Deledio is flying. Don't know how any fan could be bagging such a gun?
Might just be D-day for North this week.

Higgins looks to be making great gains but is still only where Deledio was 2 years ago.

once again thanks to http://stats.rleague.com for the numbers.

got no concerns with Lidsmeister, maybe we are just expecting to much of him even at the age of 22, its not as if he's been surrounded with great players in his formative years.
perhaps someone with Ben Cousins experience would be invaluable to him at this stage of his career, but we need to Ben onto the park.

i spoke to great mate who worked with the eagles when Chris judd arrived and was saying that he helped Chris Judd a great deal in his formative years.

i love the way we make excuses for our players
deledios first yr was fantastic, since then he has been not that good considering where he is at in his career
and we cannot be fooled by his jack jack dyer medal, he never deserved it, that medal was richos all along
deledio is going backwards fast, he needs a kick up his arse and start doing what he can do .
lets hope its starts this week

Ge this topic has taken a strange turn.

As far as I'm concerned if I was a recruiter from the Gold Coast I'd take Brett Deledio over Higgins without even blinking.

I'm not going to argue that Brett is better than Shaun it's plain obvious, put Higgins in our line up atm and he'd be playing reserves where poor Richie has been burnt too. Put Deledio in a midfield with strong bodies of Cooney, Boyd and Hahn and he'd run absolutely riot.

End of story.

Isn't the issue that of whether Brett can take his game to the next level, instead whether he's better than some random footballer.. Regardless even if he is, who cares, so what?

For mine a post was correct in saying that Ablett is helped by team mates to shake the tag and our midfield will learn how to do that effectively per opponent in due time, hopefully sooner rather than later. It'd also be nice to have the ability that the Lions used to have and have the ability to pull the tagged midfielder into the forward line and have midfield options that can win you games. Unfortunatly alone Foley can't win a game by himself, and the rest just don't stack up to the rest of the competetion.

Be a different story when the 3 Cotchin, Deledio and Foley are in the late 20's and we have an other breed of good youngsters coming through.

All woudl be a different story if we didn't trade away 3 draft picks (Daniel Wells, James Kelly, no name) for Kane Johnson and 2 for Nathan Brown (Keplar Bradley, no name), this draft was a rubbish draft but still..
Go Tigers!
