VFL PREVIEW 2009!
Paul Amy
Inside Football

COBURG TIGERS
Coach: Jade Rawlings (second year).
Captain: Nick Carnell.
Last season: 12 wins, nine losses.

In: Tim Clarke (Hawthorn), Ryan Allan (Morwell), Ben Considine (Collingwood VFL), Hamish Dahl (Golden Square), Matt Deledio (Kyabram), Jacob Hislop (Burnie), Mathew Jones (Golden Square), James Saville (Collingwood VFL).

Out: Paul Shelton, Fort Caruso, Tas Clingan, Cath Corr, Joe Gazzo, Sam Robertson, Shaun Huy, Paul Currie, Tommy Simpson, Michael Farrelly, Nick Lynch, Josh Riddle.

Verdict: Grand finalists under Andy Collins in 2007, the Tigers slipped to an elimination-final loss to Frankston. They were disappointed, thinking they were better than that. Their reserves, untouchable during the season, also bombed in the finals and most of the players have moved on. Only new captain Nick Carnell, Nat Caruso and Andrew Horne remain from the VFL listers who appeared in the 2007 decider; this is now Rawlings’ squad, rather than a Collins construction. Paul Shelton, a mighty player, will be missed scrapping around the packs, but there are a few exciting inclusions, notably ex-Hawk Tim Clarke. Ryan Allan, a well-built forward from Morwell, shapes as a smoky from the sticks. The Tigers will look for young bucks Nick Liddle, Christian McErlain, Ben Clifton, Nic Catterpan and James Keogh to kick on and help the club holds its ground.

So if Tambling for Nahas is the only change for Richmond then Coburg is left with a pretty ordinary spine. Nat Caruso at CHB  ??? and no obvious choice for FF unless Polly plays there  :-\. I guess Post could fill in but he's more a mobile running tall in his first year.

Reminder: Only 12 RFC guys can play this week for Coburg seniors

With Frankston being stand alone then the 12/10 rule applies

Cheers WP I forgot that. So Polly and perhaps a rookie? to miss although a bit harsh on Browne to go from seniors to VFL to VFL ressies in two weeks  :-\.

I wouldn't be surprised if Connors doesn't play seniors, seeing he only played his first match back last week

Polak played ressies last week so I think it's likely he will again

Would also argue Browne would have and needs to play as they need a proper ruckman. Don't think Patto has the fitness to ruck all day. Although, the Burgers in these games have thrown Nat Caruso in the ruck at times and he has done really well  :clapping

Actually thinking about this some more :P

I wonder if we (Richmond) will keep one of the emergencies out of the game on Sunday in case Tambling doesn't come up or just to play some "ducks & drakes"  :-\ ;D

That would make sense too. So Nahas won't play for Coburg you'd think if that was the case.

I also left Gus in the Burger line-up before when he'll be playing for Richmond so that makes it 13 RFC Tigers. So Polly to the Coburg ressies which allows Browne to remain in the Coburg seniors  :thumbsup.

That's because Tambling won't play.  Can't be in rehab all week and then be good to play on the weekend.  I reckon they have no intention of him playing.

Cleve is still coming back from injury.

Why Post is playing Coburg ressies while Polly is playing seniors I've got no idea.

Tigers won the ressies by 9pts.
WP said Cleve and Goo kicked one each in the last quarter.

They're playing Al Jolson's California over the PA  ;D
