In form players???
« on: April 13, 2009, 05:47:43 PM »
Looking at the Tigers team at this stage of the season can anyone think of a player/s who you could honestly say is at the top of their form? Seems to be very unusual to have a squad of professional footballers and not be able to find someone to label as "in form". In fact you would have to say that most of the list is very much out of form, some of the offenders:

Tambling - Playing without any confidence, cannot get clear, cannot kick further than 30 metres
King - Like a rabbit in the headlights of an oncoming freight train, must have also contracted myxomatosis, runs in circles, cant kick.
Edwards - Should be known as "ragdoll", too light, no penetration/direction on kicks
Simmonds - Seems to have a major timing issue, his anti gravity boots must be in for repair, has jumped and hit the ground before the ball is bounced
Hislop - Send him to an optometrist, he either has bad eyesight or colour blindless and cannot differentiate team shirts
Jackson - Must have one boot heavier than the other, seems to constantly go sideways/backwards/circles
White - Like a racehorse who just got handed a 60kg handicap, supposedly quick but get runs down too often
Tuck - Gets in the packs but most disposals ineffective, handballs straight up in the air, kicks go along the ground
Brown - Still very elusive, unfortunately not dangerous to opposition defences due to the fact he cant kick further than 20 metres
Richardson - Cannot deny the effort from this guy, unfortunately he needs to aim at the interchange area to get close to the big sticks, uses too much gas remonstrating with his own teammates about their ineffective delivery.
Bowden - Seems to have heaps of time yet still makes wrong decisions, should be setting example for younger players
Polo - Seems to run and run, the problem is he always appears to be on his last legs, doesnt seem capable of breaking defensive lines
Riewoldt - Relys too much on the big pack mark, doesnt hurt teams with his poor kicking for goal
Schulz - Gutsy player, must have shares in a private hospital, poor kick for goal, not doing enough for seasoned player

Good question Lozza.

Kel is probably the only Tiger that has played 3 decent games and up to the standard we expected after 2008. It doesn't say much for the rest of the team when he's our FB  :P.

The only reason I can be positive about the rest of the season is that I dont think any of our players are in consistent good form.  Our game can lift by a huge amount when they start hitting their straps.

You know there is a question of form and a question of who is putting in a decent shift.

Tucky is the prime example here. He's an old dog with old tricks really. He's never really been silky smooth and you can be certain that when he wins the scraps he'll bang 40 or 50 yard ball into the F50. If you have a forward line who contest the mark ferociously, then contest the ball when it goes to ground then chase and harrass the opposition to lock the ball then Tuck's work is vital. If you have a forward line who CBF doing the dirty work then it becomes another Tucky turnover resulting in a rebound and goal.

Same goes for White for me. At least he tries to run hard and make things happen when we have zero cohesive movement of players through the middle. When the ship turns and we start winning a few games he'll start producing 70 and 80 m plays.

Bowden and King are lazy defensively. Schulz will do a few things a game at 150% and everything else at 80%.
