Swine flu pandemic
« on: May 01, 2009, 08:47:55 PM »
We've got a member of our family who works in public transport and his work today gave him a whole list of do's and don'ts regarding self-protection from the swine flu. Anyone else get something similar at their work?

You hear on the news people panicking stocking up on water and food at home. No doubt it's serious but it's an airbourne disease so how's stocking up on bottled water going to protect you ???.

Stocking up on food etc is in case we have to go into lock down mode...

If the Govt declares we are confined to homes for xxx amount of days

I am pretty sure that's what they are doing in Mexico City at the minute until 5th May

If we all stockpiled, there'd be absolute chaos.
Just get your necessities, like medicines etc.
And my dogs just reminded me about making sure I don't forget their food  :rollin

I'm pretty sure we got nothing to worry about here, folks, but to be sure keep washing those hands lol

True WP but why stockpile bottled water for an airborne disease? We do have drinkable tap water  ???

As Moi said if we all stockpiled there'd be chaos.

I think this is the biggest media beat-up to try and scare the becrap out of us.
Is like Ben Cousins, they want to make out the worst in every single thing.

Is the disease rampant, even in the country of origin?  No.  It seems to have steadied.

Is it rampant in every country?  No.  A couple of people have contracted it.

To me, it's like any flu virus, there are some that kill people, even the normal influenza bug.

The media have to be responsible and not cause pandamonium.

I agree Moi, and comparing it to the plague all those years ago is a bit of a long bow, I think we have come a long way in containing and curing things now, but we dont need to point that out do they  ::) media pfft!
