Why did the club delist Gourdis?

I can only assume cause he is not very good.

No...... pretty sure if you delist a player you payout his contract, if you then rookie him he dose'nt go on rookie pay as well as paying him out, he stays on the same wage, we rookied Collard last year when he had 1 year on his contract with Freo they paid him the difference between rookie and full pay. Gourdis's delisting was always a draft stategy to free up an extra ND pick, he spent last year in the Coburg 2s at the wrong end of the ground and was the senior listed player most under the radar to be selected by another club, was always staying at the Richmond. That extra pick didnt get used in the ND when Bisbane took McCulloch the pick before us instead that pick became PSD pic 6  Ben Cousins  win/win

correct,

gourdis was guaranteed 2 yrs senior pay, regardless of being delisted and taken as a rookie

well if it costs nothing to elevate him and we need a fwd then surely shirley it's an easy decision to make, as long as he's not taking a spot from someone you really should be elevating.

My 2 bob worth....

A player taken in the ND is given a 2 year contract and special permission is required to cut that player after 1 year...ala Carl Peterson.  Players Association was involved etc...

A player taken in the PSD can nominate his terms or can be signed up on a 1 year contract.  I believe that Gourdis had a 1 year deal and was then delisted to free up a spot on the list.  The spot "reserved" in last year's pre-season draft was earmarked for Nahas and not Gourdis, but was ultimately taken by Cousins who I believe is only on a 1 year deal with us.

Does that help?

Richo has been placed on the LTIL according to the RFC site. No mention of any rookie being promoted in his place.

Browne, I hope but Silvester probably deserves an elevation more than any of the remaining rookies based on form. Has anyone seen Gilligan (sp?) play of late?

I saw him a couple of weeks ago in Coburg reserves. He is very small so maybe the only way he would be considered for elevation at this stage is if Nahas gets a long term injury.

Silvester is in his last rookie year, will have to be promoted or delisted end 2009, been the top defender in the VFL past 2 years should be given a chance especially with Rance out, Moore injured and Thursty down on form

Agree, we don't need a ruck and Gilligan is not up to it yet.
