12 & 16 not high enough
« on: October 07, 2004, 09:55:08 PM »
If Richmond has caved in for picks 12 and 16 for Ottens then unfortunately for all of us...its a sad day for our football club. Miller stated what was required if he has dealt ottens for less he has failed. Not by our standards but by his own. Coming on top of the Johnson deal where we missed out on Wells and paying a truckload for Brown last year was also disappointing.

Sounds like we are giving up both Otto and Ty to get that top 10 pick plus Geelong's pick 16 which is far less than what we were asking  :P.

Despite that at least this year we are trading away expendable players (average ones or those that don't won't to be at Tigerland) for high draft picks which is the right way to go about rebuidling our list. Compare that to the Johnson and Brown scenarios  where we did the opposite at the expense of a Wells etc. I won't even comment on the Hilton/Bidders for picks 8 and 24 trade  :scream  :banghead although if Wojcinski suddenly found his way to Punt Road we'd be getting the bloke we could have picked up with that year's pick 24.

It is when we get rid of F F F F F Fiora for Simmonds and keep pick 20 and our 1st pick in the PSD

 ;D

I'd rate this trade period about 7/10

Hawthorn 10/10 they did sensational I believe.

Same here Disco. 8/10 for me. Miller really couldn't do much more. Would have preferred getting rid of Zantuck but that's a minor detail.

Yep about a 7.5/10 for me.

Farken glad we kept pick 20 cos this pick will get us a gun - mark my words  These picks get you those kids that show talent but have not yet developed as much as the top kids, but have massive scope for improvement.

5 piks in the top 20 and pick 1 in the PSD is the way to go.

Simmonds will provide a better contest than Ottens - so we more than break even within the ruck/forward line.

New good coach, a batch of quality kids...............BRING IT ON !!!
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

I reckon 11/10 ;)
ottens is a dud and already the K-Mart stores around Geelong are preparing for an increase in handbags sales about Mid April onwards next year.
Anything gained for Ottens is a plus.

Now Fiora, stroke of genius to get rid of this dud and get Simmonds in return and more importantly KEEP no 1 in PSD. :birthday

The difference between pick 10 and 12 is a bit of good luck.
I'm still LOL abou the Fiora deal. Not a bad outcome (understatement)

Overall, the RFC has been the winner in the trade. Hawthorn a close second.
