Jade Rawlings has denied that he set out to make a statement by dumping a quartet of veteran Tigers for his first match in charge as Richmond's caretaker coach against West Coast on Saturday night.
While laughing off his new nickname
'Jade the Blade' bestowed on him by the Herald Sun, Rawlings stressed that Joel Bowden, Troy Simmonds, Mark Coughlan and Kayne Pettifer were dropped purely because of poor form, though the door remains open for their return down the track.
"They will need to go back to Coburg like any player who gets dropped and do something about elements of the game that we've discussed with them to give themselves a chance to get back in the senior side," said Rawlings.
