Sorry to be ignorant but can anyone let me know who the goalkicking coach is at the RFC? That is assuming we have one, going on today's effort Richo might be helping out while he is rehabilitating. Why is it all the fans and the commentators can see where these guys are going wrong yet the tiger coaches cant seem to correct the deficiencies. It amazes me that these so called professional footballers who live the game 24/7 cannot kick goals from 25 metres dead in front.

Not a bad choice Danog, problem being that neither are permanent forwards, i bet there wouldn't be too many other clubs given the same hypothetical who wouldnt have a forward in their top 2 choices.

wayne - Luke Darcy was very critical of Riewoldt's set shot technique on the Ch10 broadcast. There was similar critisism of Morton's set shot technique as he was holding the ball like he was going to snap it. Whoever is our goal kicking coach should be looking for a job.

I don't think we have a specialised goalkicking coach. Royal was our forward line coach until Plough got the flick. Rawlings has got Dermie down to the Club to help with our forwards the past couple of weeks. The problem with goalkicking and not just at the RFC is at training it's an afterthought. The fitness and conditioning staff don't like players doing say 100 kicks at goal from various angles because they consider it too much workload on top of the players normal training and playing. That way of thinking is just wrong for such a crucial part of the game that is the difference between winning and losing.

Jack's problem at the moment is when he runs in he swings both his arms like a pendulum and the ball is still 'swinging' as it comes down onto his boot. It's russian roulette where the ball will contact the kicking foot. He's got to get on the training track and teach himself to hold the ball still as possible so the ball contacts the middle of his foot. He's also got to get into the gym to work on his leg muscles. He struggles from 40m+ out which isn't good enough at this level. Newy would also tell him to work on his non-dominant handpassing so his teammates don't get cleaned up.

As for Morton he just needs to hold the ball conventionally and not kick every kick at goal like he's going for a banana.

I think Jack's technique though is something that can be fixed easily.

Jackand Mitch spin the ball in their hands right up until release, that cant be good! Mitch goes too far back and then dawdles in, losing sight of where he is! Just a couple of observations from a bush hack good/ordinary footballer who spent most his career down back!
