Sheedy/Coach - What should have happened.
« on: July 13, 2009, 02:27:07 PM »
Believe it or not but I actually live 2 doors down from Kevin Sheedy.

If I knew what was going to happen over the past couple of weeks I would have happily had my 4th chat in about 10 years neighbour to neighbour about football.

What should have happened for our football club over the past 2 weeks:

-   Kevin Sheedy put his hand up for the coaching job
-   Kevin along with other very high quality prospective coaches to be interviewed ad the club would collate numerous different angles and thoughts of the club of how it is seen externally. It also gains insight to future opposition coaches and also unearths some handy new plays and set pieces untried by our side before.
-   1st 2nd and 3rd round process are finished with some coaches culled and down to final 3 to pitch to the board.
-   Regardless if it’s Kevin Sheedy, Kermit the Frog or even Terry Wallace all coaches should have been given equal chance and footing when applying for the position as coach.
-   The most suitable candidate to be chosen.

What has happened over the past 2 weeks has been just a load of genuine slop.

The media campaign pressuring the club in favour of Sheedy
The Caro Wilson ego trip of having inside info that Sheedy is chasing shadows..
The Gary March view on Sheedy never being coach.

Just a circus and again the members are the ones who lose out. We lose the other coaches competing against Sheedy. The process looks flawed and weighted. We lose credibility that may now fail to lure a Nathan Buckley or Mick Malthouse even a Leigh Matthews who may have been swayed in a perfect Richmond scenario. We lose any idea Sheedy had in the wings and now for all he cares can with hold that information from the club that could have brought success. We will never know.

Brendon Gale please come home and clean up this mess. A heart can only be broken and mended so many times.

P.S before everyone asks - No I will not go and to Kevin with any requests, I’m not that brave. He’s also never home, I’ve only ever seen him in December in Christmas holidays walking his dog lol.

With the way the media can sell a story over the least drama at the RFC anything our club does turns out to be a circus.

All you can hope is when the bearded ladies and jugglers come round that our club projects itself strongfully.

Too many stupid people at the club putting their ego and agenda before the club. :banghead
Hopefully that changes soon whether it be through change or natural evolvement. :pray

Given both work at the Club wouldn't the commonsense thing for Sheeds to do was to go and talk to March and Cameron face to face behind closed doors and say he wanted to apply for the position instead of having KB cheerleading his cause in public and embarrassing the Club  ::). The Club isn't revealing the candidates publicly so Sheeds could have gone through the selection process and the Club wouldn't have had to play this all out in a public circus.

I can see it now, someone will nominate for a board spill - be it benny gale (i'm not sure he is that stupid or he has loftier ambitions) or a schwab fronting the ticket as president with KB, St Francis and Roachy making up the ticket. They will no doubt get a couple of high profile businessmen and guess who the coach will be?

I don't think we have heard the last of the saga.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Well Rhett Bartlett on BF has said there's no hidden agenda from KB to topple the Board.

"let's stop this wacky rumour in its tracks right now.
KB isnt running for president, or for a board.
There is no hidden agenda here to spill the president."
