Funny how the same people who rate Bowden also seem to believe Gaspar was shafted
This is despite the fact Gaspar was old, slow and a terrible kick down in defence while we were trying to rebuild, some could say a liability
They also seem to omit the fact that he walked out on the club because he refused to play for Coburg to earn his spot back
The fact is the only reason Gaspar was kept on the extra year was because he was the only player other player who could qualify for the veterans list, he was a free player for the year which gave us an older mature body for depth in defence

Shame people seem to omit these details when mentioning it

Tell you something pal.you areso far from the truth isnt not even worth replying to you, you are a complete idiot,.

I know EXACTLY what they would say ;)

funny how you say Gapser was old & slow
Thursfield & McGuane went backwards after Gasper left & that they both said Gasper was the best help they ever got becomming the players they are today
They have never got to Gaspers standard yet so whats your story to that
Oh thats right we had no-one to develope them
They didn't go backwards, they just had more responsibility as our key defenders despite being teenagers
They are also a rookie pick and a 3rd round selection, not Pick 2 in the draft like Gaspar was
Don't forget they are also still young and yet to hit their peak, McGuane & Thursfield are only 22 & 23 and shouldn't be expected to hit his prime for another 2 years, however they're doing a pretty good job already despite being one of the few defensive units in the AFL that don't have an older senior defender down there to help them

and furthermore, why dont you go and ask one of the players if you doubt me or Tigermonk.
I know EXACTLY what they would say ;)
You mean the same players that have made us so crap over the past years
I couldn't give a crap what they say anyway, axing Gaspar was one of the best things this club has done
Axing Bowden is the 2nd best, shame it wasn't sooner

Will state this.
The axing of Gaspar and Chubba ruined the culture at the club.

You mean ruined that brilliant winning culture we had back in the 70s?
Somehow I think that went a long time ago

Gas was axed in 2007. We hadn't played finals in 6 years up till then and had just as bad "winning" ratio when he was playing. We had to pay him a fortune to keep him and Holland after 2001 which soaked up our TPP and forced Benny Gale into retirement and then when Gas was axed he quit because he thought he was too good for VFL.

Some here are rating B-grade senior footballers at our club as A-graders just because of their longevity at the club. No matter how many times they have let the club down onfield in big games we should keep hold of them forever. I'd rather our kids learn from Cuz the footballer than our so-called senior "A-graders".

LOL blaming an event 3 years ago for a poor culture that's almost 3 decades in the making   :thatsgold.

You dont understand what went on with those sackings.
we have been poor ever since.
the younger players havent developed,
And the events of 3 year put as back further , as our position on the ladder now indicates

it's beginning to annoy me how often so called tiger fans choose to pour scorn over any of the decent players that have served us whilst conveniently ommitting the litany of broken down bums that have made Punt rd their home over the last couple of decades. this misplaced vitriol would be better served elsewhere as it generally says more about the boofhead espousing such nonsense than the intended message...Now how many AA and B&Fs did Chubba and Gas win between them ::)....that is all :clapping

Yes, but everyone's time comes eventually, and theirs was then IMO.
And Gas had a chance to go back to the reserves and help the development of young players, but he chose not to.
Credit to Bowden at least, he has taken his demotion like a man
But the other two, it was just their time.
No-one is having a go at their contribution to the club.
