Very interesting thing March just said when asked whether we would be swayed by North

"We are at the pointy end of our process, we have a fair idea where our thinking is going"

Very interesting with two yet to have 2nd round interviews.

Also ruled Laidley out.

Summary

* Joel? Never easy when a legend of the club nears the end. Joel's handled this week as good as anyone. A top person on and off field and hopefully not lost to footy as a result.

* Live with the fact Hardwick may turn his back on us if it happened. Near the end of the process and we've got an idea on which way we're going but we won't be dictated by anyone else.

* Cameron has kept all 4 candidates informed throughout the process.

* Probably in 10 days we'll make a final decision.

* Laidley has spoken to Cameron. Not sure if he's in or out as Gary hasn't spoken to Craig. Pretty confident Dean isn't part of our future moving forward.

* Not easy to coordinate 4 candidates and 10 people on the panel. So it takes time but everyone has been very good about it.

* You do cop pressure (to make a decision) but our members have been very understanding.

* Reckons all 4 candidates can coach. 3 have coached before in their own right and Hardwick has great pedigree.

* Based on where we are at and with the strong parameters we have put up we believe we'll choose a strong coach from these 4 candidates.

* Didn't think he overrated the list at the start of the year unless everyone (media) did. We have underperformed significantly.

* Deficiencies are forward and back. Midfield is our strength but we haven't had everyone out on the park for most of the year (Cuz, Cotch, etc).

* March joins the coaching process in the final stage.

* Final 2 candidates will have to present before the Board but the main guide will be the recommendation of the coaching subcommittee.

* Dermie said Tiger supporters are unique with their passion and they want to see the game play a certain way. Will we recruit that type of player that embodies that spirit of Richmond?
March said that comes with a more defensive and accountable mindset. With that comes those hardnuts. We are still an introverted group. Our extroverts are young (Cotch, Jack). They'll lead the change.

* Timeframe where the club will be in 3-4 years?
Didn't give answer other than to say not all our younger players are pups. Lids has played 100 games. You expect him to step up. Mentioned 13 hardball gets he got as an example of a more harder mindset. Foley we've missed badly. Mentioned Vickery and Browne as well as developing hardnuts.

* Richo? Had ops last week. If his body holds up he'll go around again. He was leading our B&F before he was injured.

* Cuz? List management decision but IHO Cuz is still only 80% so there's still massive upside to him.

* How many potential premiership players on our list?
About 12-13. Craig Cameron does that all the time. Gave Collins a big wrap. Post is a ripper and a leader.

Tigers to make coaching call within 10 days: March (Age)

Tigers to make coaching call within 10 days: March
Andrea Petrie | August 16, 2009

RICHMOND will appoint a senior coach within the next 10 days, according to Tigers president Gary March.

Former North Melbourne coach Dean Laidley, who spoke with the Tigers last week, is unlikely to have any role at the club, but March said the four candidates in the running were all capable of taking the club forward.

Alan Richardson, Damien Hardwick, Ken Hinkley and caretaker coach Jade Rawlings are all in contention, with two to be given a final opportunity to present their ideas to the board before the decision was made, March said.

He added that he was pleased with the process so far.

''When you've got 10 people on a panel and you've got four different people and all of them are working at other clubs, it's not easy to co-ordinate to get them all at that time and, sitting through, I've got to say they've been fantastic interviews, but they're long and you can't do them back-to-back,'' March told SEN.

''It's an intense process and I've learned a lot out of it and it's been fascinating.''

March said Laidley had met with football manager Craig Cameron.

''I haven't spoken to Craig about how it went, but I think that was more of a catch-up to see whether he wanted to coach again,'' he said. ''I'm pretty sure that Dean's not part of our situation going forward.''

He said the club had a clear idea of what it needed in a future coach.

''We've got some pretty strong parameters around the type of person that we want and the type of character that we need to bring into the club and I think these four candidates all fit that bill,'' he said.

''We're pretty comfortable that we'll find a very good senior coach out of these four candidates.''

And while North Melbourne is believed to be interested in Hardwick for its senior coaching position, March said the Tigers would not rush their final decision.

''I think we just have to live with the fact that he might turn his back on us [and] that happens,'' he said.

''We've nearly finished our process and we're at the pointy end of it. We've got a fair idea of where our thinking is going, but we'll not be dictated to by another club and their decisions.''

Reading between these lines, Hardwick is in for our job up to his ears.

Daniel, the Rawlings supporters have jumped ship, first to Richardson and now to Hinkley, dont worry man, Hinkley has his own questions he needs to answer, primarily why Geelongs forward line is so average, and the lack of development in Tom Hawkins.

Don't lower your standards Ramps.  Hinkley has nothing to do with Geelong's forward line or Tom Hawkins development.  He is not their forward line coach or development coach.  Not your style to make up fibs to suit your argument.

If it is the case that Hardwick and Richardson are the only ones to have 2nd round interviews then from March's interview I sensed it will be one of those two.
