Daniel, the Rawlings supporters have jumped ship, first to Richardson and now to Hinkley, dont worry man, Hinkley has his own questions he needs to answer, primarily why Geelongs forward line is so average, and the lack of development in Tom Hawkins.

Don't lower your standards Ramps.  Hinkley has nothing to do with Geelong's forward line or Tom Hawkins development.  He is not their forward line coach or development coach.  Not your style to make up fibs to suit your argument.

My understanding of Hinkleys role is that he is in charge of there attacking strategy all over the field. Does this not include the forward line? Doesnt it include the attacking development of individual playere ie. Hawkins? Im interested to know, and if my understanding on his role is not that then I wholeheartedly apologise.

They will have forward line, midfield and back line coaches whose role it is to get each of these sub-units playing as a team within a team, understanding each other's styles, strengths, weaknesses etc.  They will have at least one development coach whose role will be to develop individual footballers (with most emphasis on the kids for obvious reasons) into the best senior players they can be.  Then they have their senior assistant coach who is responsible for developing the offensive/attacking strategies for the team as a whole and pulling all this together from the 3 distinct on-field groups.  And finally they have a head coach who is responsible for devising the overall gameplans and co-ordinating all the strategies, (defensive and offensive), moves, groups, individuals etc on game day.  It's drawing a long and unfair bow to blame Hinkley for Hawkins lack of development and Geelong's (perceived?) lack of forward line success.

And just for the record, I'm not a 'Hinkley man' - I still haven't wavered from my original Richardson, Hardwick, Hinkley order but having said that, in researching Hinkley's credentials I am starting to sway myself!   ;)

Interesting yesterday that March said he felt that we needed the new coach to focus on defensive aspects of our game. Wonder if this hurts Hinkley's chances...

Don't know but I sure as hell know one thing I have learned in playing and watching football all my life - the best method of defence is attack.  And attack consists of many defensive attributes such as tackling, shepherding, running to assist a team mate, running at the opposition when they have the ball etc.  Get these right and you are well down the path to becoming successful before you even make one solitary change to the playing list.

Hi Mt.
A few weeks ago our mutual friend  :shh took a frank look at our list, and identified the players she felt were capable of playing in our next flag. "The rest can go", she said. I howled her down at the time as being too overly-critical when she cited only 13 players as being up to standard. It's funny now that CC has come up with the exact same number.  :shh really should be working in the football dept, don't you think?

For the second round of interviews - Craig Cameron, Francis Jackson, Tony Free, Greg Stafford and Emmett Dunne. Jeff Bond may be involved still as well.

The third (final) round of interviews are before the whole Board with a recommendation from the above subcommittee.
