SANFL U18 - Tom Harms
« on: August 17, 2009, 03:58:10 PM »
A kid that looked quite smooth but wasn't mentioned from SA was a blonde kid called Tom Harms, played behind Trengrove and didn't get 100% game time in the Championships.

I've looked him up and he plays for Sturt U/18. Just got BOG with 4 goals and 32 possessions, with guys like Trengrove in the middle its tough to look good when he has the ball all game. SA Coach emailed and said he had a few niggles at the time of the National Championships.

Seeing a fair few kids this age I love the odd no name that we look at and go gee he looks sharp and gets picked up at pick 60 odd and we go "Hey that kid got picked up great!"

Last few games:
                                             Goals  Best
Su 10/Ma   Sturt    Eagles           3     1
Fri 5/Jun    Sturt    Central District    3    1
Sat 13/Jun    Sturt    North Adelaide    2    2
Fri 19/Jun    Sturt    Glenelg          3    1
Sun 5/Jul    Sturt    West Adelaide    -    -
Sat 11/Jul    Sturt    Eagles           1    2
Sat 1/Aug    Sturt    North Adelaide    3    6
Sat 15/Aug Sturt West Adelaide    4    5

Pretty consistant kid. TAKE NOTE RFC Recruiters!! I've

4th of July he played Senior football for Sturt in the Reserves, came out and played U/18s the next day, didn't look like he got near the footy but pretty expected from what I could assume is a Senior debut albeit at Reserves level.

But in all seriousness this kid is a gun. Has got 0 or close to no media exposure. Have no idea why. Maybe in South Australia he's all over the newspapers but in Victoria I've read nothing.

Gun.

Had a chat to Mr Phillips since Harms played games in the U/18 Championships but was injured with a hip pointer injury in the finals rounds at the Telstra Dome.

I'll try and find out Height and Weight.

SA have a history of hiding kids in the Championships to keep them out of the eye from Victorian clubs. Tom could be one of them. Look at the press Trengrove is getting compared to the Vic boys. Phillips reckons Harm's is going to draft camp so we'll here more of him then no doubt. Be a really smart pick up if he's still around in the 2nd or 3rd round for mine.

Normally my strong suit too Ramps!  Cheers.   :thumbsup

He has enough height to make a good midfielder then.

Sorry gents,

Been a bit busy. Looked a good size when I saw him play, glad the facts say so as well, ge would love to have Draft Camp and U/18 games from interstateon foxtel would be good to watch and see the talent coming through on a weekly basis instead of reading crap views from journalists supposedly in the know...

From someone in the know, this kid goes alright for his age group.

Goal kicking midfielders are so important in the modern game, look at Bulldogs and Geelong there midfielders on there day can kick 4+ goals.

Cooney has kicked 5 on numerous occasions
Cross kicks bags on 3
Aker maybe a forward but kicks lots of goals with 25+ possession games
Ablett, Bartel, Chapman all speak for themselves

I don't think our midfielders kick enough goals. Think we need to look at players like Harms and co that seem to be ball magnets and also kick the running goals when we need them too.

Francis is always saying if we hear or know of kids worth a look to let him know...we also have a recruiter over there too now...(about time)

I liked Nicholas Winmar as well. He must be 6'2 or 6'3 and around 80kgs. Good skill level and seemed competitive.
