Would you trade Jack Riewoldt?
« on: August 30, 2009, 09:57:03 AM »
Jack is only a 3rd tall forward at best. Would anyone be prepared to trade Jack Riewoldt?

he is too short to be our main forward

i would bulk him up and have him and Post as your 2 forwards.

id also play rance in the forward line.

jack will be better when he gets help. he is doing it all alone now

Plenty more to trade before him

This thread is a bit boring and pointless.  It was only a month ago we had the same thread.  Here is the link for those with short memories (start with nahadaman's post near the bottom of the page):

                                             INSIDE 50s

rd 19    Richmond 37      Sydney 53
rd 20    Richmond 33      Collingwood 67
rd 21    Richmond 39      Hawthorn 66
rd 22    Richmond 35      West Coast 56

Average Richmond 36     opposition 60.5

Take into account that the ball is being delivered into the forward line by the most unskillful team in the comp.
It would be a terrible time to be a Richmond forward.

Right now Jack is our only recognised forward and he is only 20.
No way in my opinion.

Put Jack up for trade but Schulz stays on the list for another year due to his contract.
That reaks of stupidity.

He's not untouchable, however you need to remember that any kpp we draft to replace him is going to take a good 4 years to become a reliable full season player, especially as a key forward. Youngsters can cameo here and there, but it takes years to develop a player into a 95%+ gametime key forward with regular goal contributions.

Jack is the lone target in a crap side, only 20 years old and has kicked more goals in less games than his cousin Nick in their respective 3rd season in the game. In fact Jack is ahead over their entire first 3 years, Nick kicked 53 goals 37 from 50 games in his first 3 years. Jack has kicked 57 goals 38 behinds from 46 games.

Nick had a break out year in his 4th season, kicking over 60 goals, but then only 33 the next year from 3/4 of a season. It wasn't until his sixth year that he reached the standard that he is today.

He needs to improve his composure when kicking for goal, but give him more time in the gym, more stamina, more help and more delivery and there's no reason he can't be a critical component of our forward line. It would want to be a very VERY good trade to make it happen, because if we got rid of him, who would we kick it to?

I would trade him out if a club offered a first round pick between 7 and 10 for sure. Beyond that he stays but he is not a key forward. He is a 3rd forward tall and not overly quick either, Kicking for goal is average as well.

7-10? No chance, he was around that mark in one of the strongest drafts in years.
Would need to be much more than that, not sure how you can say he's only a 3rd tall anyway, he's 193cm
He may not play like a dominating FF/CHF because he doesn't have the build yet

These threads are funny or are some just taking the P, as if we are going to trade developing 20 year old when we have plenty to move on without trying ! You dont recive full market value when trading and this years pool talent is average anyway.

PS: Very late picks dont usually make it - prove me wrong if you can -LOL
