Disappointed if he does leave but if he does leave it will give us more cap space to keep our other potential stars such as Conca.

Pick 1 is a possibility, if Martin only cares about the money and not the club, then if Melbourne are offering pick 2, GWS will have to offer pick 1.

Dustin Martin tells Richmond he wants to pursue offers from other clubs

DUSTIN Martin is set to leave Richmond to take a big-money offer from a rival club.

The Tigers revealed today that the club has been advised by Martin and his management "of their desire to pursue offers from other clubs".

The Tigers and Martin were reportedly close to a deal on a new contract but Martin baulked at the club's latest offer.

The explosive midfielder/forward was on an estimated $450,000 this season and the club's offer was believed to be about $500,000 a season.

Martin is not a free agent so Richmond will have to do a deal with another club to secure a move.

The Tigers also have the option of forcing Martin into the draft, where GWS has the No.1 pick.

Martin was taken with pick three in the 2009 national draft and has played 86 matches.

His move means two of the top three picks in that draft have left their original team, following No.1 selection Tom Scully's defection from Melbourne.

Disappointing, but a long, long way from the end of the world

martin and our first pick for adams and pick 1 is approaching a realistic deal IMO

you think so Al?

perhaps Patton not pick 1 more realistic if Bud heads over.
yeah i reckon it gets near. patton himself was a pick 1 and has a couple of years development under his belt. the downside is his injury history though.

buddy alone would be worth pick 1 and adams

Smash him when we play him again. Knock him clean out.

Hopefully he goes off the rails before he gets a game with his new team.

If he wants to go to GWS then he can walk for free and we might easily end up with nothing.

The B&F on the 30th Sept will be interesting if he shows up  ;D

Should not let him near the place

Disagree a great test of character

Do you face those you've let down like a man

Or do you do the cowardly thing and stay away

WGAF? why would we care about testing his character if he leaves? no longer our problem so he be as big a stuff up as he wants.

You only want people playing for you that want to be there.
If he feels he will be better off somewhere else good luck.
We cried in the late 90's and early 00's when blokes like Daffy, Holland etc were getting overs for playing mediocre footy and the year they were up for contract renewal they had decent seasons.
The kid as great as his potential is given his frame of mind will always be a very good player but not an elite player. It's not sour grapes it's the baggage he carries.
I am quite proud the club stood by its convictions and did not cater to his whim and stood by the mantra that the club is bigger than the player. We could be looking at this and saying this was the moment the club took the next step.
I am not blaming the club for this. Kudos to them for having the balls. We'll get compensated and life moves on as it stops for no one. Focus on keeping Conca and then we can move on to next years list management. Next.

Stay away. That night is not about Dustbin Matin it's for players who are committed to the club. Couldn't give a poo if he is a man or a coward. He can prove his manliness somewhere else and not use the RFC any more.

Going to be a great thing for the club. No more lose cannon and we're going to use whatever compensation we get very well.

Agree smokey, if we have to deal with GWS we wont get a very good deal, they'll offer us token swaps.

Just racking my brain and the best scenario I can come up with is Pies lose daisy and have picks 10 and 11. I'd take those picks for Dusty and think its a fair deal. 3 picks in the top 12 would be fantastic

What did Melbourne receive for Scully again. I would hope we can get a similar deal via trade.

The onus is back on the club now to Persue the best possible offer!
This could end up being a win for us if its handled correctly. If he ends up walking to the PSD it will be a stuffing disgrace!!
It would be nice to somehow trade for PSD pick #1! That would put some pressure back on him ;D

Jackstar is back!!!
