I wouldn’t like to see him go and if you look back at our first round picks history we just might end up with a small back flanker that doesn’t ever play more than a handful of games

Agree. Call me sentimental but I’d rather see the champs and in this case one of the all time greats of the club reach 300 games and finish a one club player.

Now his namager is smart man when it comes to Dusty as Dusty has made him millions and Raplh should know that it is in his client's best interest to remain a one club player and play 300+games for the RFC

Yep, how much Dusty 300 game Gold Coast memorabilia would be bought, compared to Dusty 300 game Richmond memorabilia. It's a gold mine for Dusty and Carr to play his 300th at Richmond.
And you may not think I care for you

Still worth what he is being paid. Legend and icon of the club. I'd love to see Dusty be a 1 club player.

Today was done brilliantly seeing Jack and Cotchins off. Yeah probably played 1 year too many but would have ratheree this outcome than see them plod around at another club like Jordan Lewis, Sam Mitchell, Steve Johnson, Nick Dal Santo, Paul Chapman did.

For the sake of a late first round pick for Dusty, which we may fail in drafting properly, ita not worth losing him and missing the Dusty equivalent of today, his 300th on a Richmond jumper etc. Keep him at all costs for mine.
Go Tigers!

I look forward to going to cheer him on in his 300th game in the yellow and black next year. No draft pick would be better than that.

Brendon Gale on Dustin Martin trade talk

Richmond boss Brendon Gale has weighed in on speculation Dustin Martin could link with Damien Hardwick, who is on the cusp of being named Gold Coast’s new coach.

Richmond has little interest in moving Dustin Martin on as CEO Brendon Gale shuts down talk the superstar could join his old coach Damien Hardwick on the Gold Coast next year.

Martin has one season to run on a lucrative seven-year deal he signed in 2017.

With Hardwick set to be unveiled as Gold Coast’s new coach next week, talk had linked Martin to a move north.

Hardwick was asked about a potential trade this week and baulked at the question.

But Gale said the Tigers weren’t keen on losing Martin and that the three-time Norm Smith medallist understood the legacy he could cement by playing on beyond 300 games in a Richmond jumper next year.

Martin played his 288th game against North Melbourne on Saturday, leaving him within striking distance of joining Kevin Bartlett, Jack Riewoldt, Trent Cotchin, Shane Edwards and Francis Bourke in playing 300 games for the Tigers.

“The speculation just goes on and on,” Gale told ABC radio.

“Firstly, Dustin is contracted, I will say that. Secondly, he is a really important part of our club for a bunch of reasons. Three, despite some of the challenges and despite our form and our inability to get the ball in the front half (this season), he is a very good player.

“He is not a bad footballer, Dustin Martin, and I just think he has looked back maybe the last couple of years with Edwards and Riewoldt and Cotchin and sees the important of legacy and history and what that means.

“He has the opportunity to play 300 games next year. He knows what that means at our football club. I just can’t see a scenario where he is not at Richmond.”

Dusty winds back the clock

After a slower few years by his lofty standards, Dustin Martin was in vintage form against the Kangaroos. The 2017 Brownlow medallist picked up 31 disposals, seven marks and three goals to post his best performance of the year. He broke tackles, found space and gave the Tigers plenty of run as he farewelled his great mates Cotchin and Riewoldt.

31 disposals (20k, 11h, 11c, 19u, 77.4% eff.)
7 marks (1 contested mark)
2 tackles
2 clearances (1 centre clearance)
7 inside 50s
453 metres gained
5 intercepts
11 score involvements
1 goal assist
3 goals
91% time on ground

Supporting a footy team is all about moments.

We had 35 years of no flags but with some unreal memories. Today was another one of those that had nothing to do with winning a flag.

Dusty deserves the same send off + a 300th for Richmond.
Go Tigers!

He is still a superstar

There was no way he was going to let that game slip.

You could tell from the get go he was going drag us over the line and make sure we and he won for his mates
