Some wishful thinking by most named on that list especially by the ex-Tigers.

With Hooper nominating for the National draft and not training with us this week perhaps we have told him we're not interested.

If he was as fat and unfit as many noted then I hope we have said no - he mustn't have learned too much from his delisting.

Putt has nominated as well. Here's the full list from the AFL site.

No draft nomination for ex-Lion
By Mic Cullen | Wed 18 November, 2009

THE FULL list of discarded players who have nominated for the next week's 2009 NAB AFL Draft has been released and former Lions defender Joel Macdonald's name isn't on it.

The omission heightens speculation that Macdonald has agreed to a deal that will see him picked up in the pre-season draft, possibly by Melbourne which has the first pick.

Graham Polak's name is also missing from the list as he is hoping to be taken by Richmond in December's rookie draft.

Also appearing on the list are Carlton's Cameron Cloke, Melbourne's Russell Robertson, North Melbourne's Jesse Smith, the Lion Rhan Hooper and Hawthorn's Mitch Thorp.

Smith (Hawthorn), Hooper (Richmond) and Thorp (Melbourne) have joined those clubs for pre-season training in the hope of being re-drafted.

Delisted players who have nominated for the 2009 NAB AFL Draft:

Luke Ablett (Sydney Swans), Jarryd Allen (St Kilda),
Luke Ball (St Kilda), Jordan Bannister (Carlton), Adam Bentick (Carlton), Ryan Brabazon (Sydney Swans), Simon Buckley (Melbourne),
Chris Bryan (Collingwood), Adam Campbell (Fremantle), Cameron Cloke (Carlton), Scott Clouston (Brisbane Lions), Eljay Connors (St Kilda), Mark Coughlan (Richmond),
Jake Edwards (Carlton),
Leigh Fisher (St Kilda), Andrew Foster (Fremantle),
Greg Gallman (Adelaide), Jonathan Giles (Port Adelaide), Nick Gill (Adelaide),
Scott Harding (Brisbane Lions), Daniel Harris (North Melbourne), Rhan Hooper (Brisbane Lions),
Aaron Kite (Adelaide),
Matthew Laidlaw (Sydney Swans), Nick Lower (Port Adelaide), Malcolm Lynch (Western Bulldogs),
Dan McKenna (Geelong Cats), Jamie McNamara (West Coast), Matt Maguire (St Kilda), John Meesen (Melbourne),
Michael Newton (Melbourne),
Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls (Richmond), Daniel O'Keefe (Sydney Swans), Guy O'Keefe (Western Bulldogs), Paul O'Shea (Western Bulldogs),
Adam Pattison (Richmond), Kayne Pettifer (Richmond), Sam Power (North Melbourne), Dean Putt (Richmond),
Matt Riggio (North Melbourne), Russell Robertson (Melbourne), Jason Roe (Brisbane Lions),
Scott Simpson (Geelong Cats), Wayde Skipper (Western Bulldogs), Jesse Smith (North Melbourne), Danny Stanley (Collingwood),
Kane Tenace (Geelong Cats), Mitchell Thorp (Hawthorn), Matthew Tyler (Brisbane Lions),
Cameron Wight (Western Bulldogs), John Williams (Essendon), Michael Wundke (North Melbourne)

Hooper wasn't at training today although the AFL site still has him on our permission to train list.

There's not much to choose from looking at all those names. From a PSD point of view there's no one on that list that makes you say get him  :-\. If Melbourne take Joel MacDonald then we have the first live pick.

He's not on the list WAT but I would take MacDonald, none of the others would work for us.

A little whisper is that Melbourne may take Kane Tenace with first pick.

He is on today's list on the AFL website and he has been linked to the Hawks, they have a reputation of picking up overweight players and winning premierships with them!!

Jesse Smith - crock
Matt Maguire - crock
Michael Newton - not good enough for the side that finished lower than us on the ladder
Luke Ball - Maybe, but not with a first or second round pick, after which time he will be gone.

WAT the answer to your question is probably no-one. Some may be drafted and give good service to their new club, but except for ball and his leadership I cant see any of those bringing anything to the club that we cant get from a untried kid.
