Roach vs Richardson - How Do You See It?

Two Dead Set Champions! Both kicked bags of goals. Disco a premiership player in 1980 a 200 game player - one of our all time leading goalkickers and best forwards, Richo just shy of 300 games, kicked bags, Richmond supporters loved him during the bad times. So its Disco vs Richo, Roach vs Richardson -Who would you pick?

If you want a roller coaster ride of excitement and frustration the richo is the man.

Roach was a better footballer by a mile, but richo was the better athlete.

True. Richo should have been a midfielder.

Ironic that Disco started on the wing and became a great full forward and Richo ended up on a wing and played his best football there.

Richo should have learnt to kick under pressure, would have been a freak and would have kicked 1200 goals.

Different eras.

Roachy was awesome at the classical FF stuff.
Strong hands.

Richo was more mobile.

Yeah ,both of them would be handy in the same team.

Roachy had better players around him that's for sure.

Roachy was the first of my footballing heroes! Roach was lucky to play in good teams, Richo was not! One may argue that each player may have influenced that but, i'll go Richo just in front cos he played during a messy time for the club!

and ppl forget that he never missed
best kick for goal we have ever seen and a long kick to and could play ruck also

richo is richo and flawed champion, and athlete playing footy
roach was a footballer

roach when it comes to the crunch was a better footballer,
i would have roach at ff
and richo where he belonged and played in the beginning at hff as a floating fwd running up the wings
richo should have played like this all his career, only john northey knew how to play him

roach was a coleman medalist and premiership player...Richo was in tiger team of century, decorated as one of the games truly great players. CLOSE the thread Game OVER

I get sick of the whole athlete comment, he had about the best hands I've ever seen. He was more a dufus on the field but an all time great player as a forward pushing up into the mid field.
Roachy was an straight up out and out freak ff. But for injuries and a crap midfield in his later years - he would've joined Dunstall and Plugger as a 1000 goal player

Disco was the better forward close to goal and leading out because he was a reliable kick while Richo had the tank to play higher across half-forward and on the wing. Two completely different footballers. A better comparison for debate in say 5 years time will be who was the better full forward - Roach or Jack?

Thinks like Ablett senior,can create from nothing(Roach needed delivery) and contrary to what i read,he's stuffing strong !!
