Derek Hine from Collingwood is Uncontracted
« on: July 03, 2011, 03:42:39 PM »
I think we need to make a change in our recruiting department, Derek Hine has the score on the board and he is uncontracted at the end of this season. Richmond should make a play for Hine IMHO. Francis Jackson has done what he could but I think a change is necessary. Richmond needs to get the best people and right at the moment Hine is as good as they come in recruiting.

I'm not sure we need a change in that department as yet FJ hasn't done allot wrong in his tenure at the club.
I would rather see us put some time into securing a more senior and experienced assistant coach I really believe the lack of coaching experience around Hardwick at the moment is starting to show.

We for sure need a better midfield coach our midfield is ranked 17th i think I read somewhere. Leppa is ok, I'm not too sure on the effectiveness of Lade and Daly though ( they are good set shot kicking coaches apparently).

Would like Riccuto as a midfield coach.

need to get mark neeld from collingwood
also uncontracted

Quote
played 74 league games in seven season for Geelong and Richmond, came to Collingwood in 2008 as defensive assistant coach after a decorated coaching career at suburban and elite junior level, most recently at the helm of the Western Jets in Victoria's TAC Cup Under 18 competition. Coached Ocean Grove to four straight premierships from 2000-2003.

Neeld created a working class outfit in defence in 2009.  Led by skipper Nick Maxwell, the Magpie back six gave up the second least points against in the AFL.

In 2010 Neeld oversaw the midfield group which included new draftees Luke Ball and Darren Jolly.  Neeld's midfield boasted three All-Australians including Scott Pendlebury, Alan Didak and Dane Swan.  Swan (24 votes) and Pendlebury (21) finished in the top five in the Brownlow.

seen plenty of Neeld firsthand at the Jets before he got the pies gig. Gun coach

..and Hine would obviously be an upgrade on jackson or are ppl going to seriously argue against?  :-[

But the biggest upgrade of all we need to undertake is Craig Cameron.. Theres a list manager that just left hawthorn that goes alright..

Player wise we are looking at picks 13ish and mid 30's. We can't actually add much in the way of pure class so we simply have to get better.
Get Hine, get Neeld, get whoever it takes.

Footy is now a business of selling hope, this is the only way the club will be able to sell it over the off season.
