This one.

Thought everyone knew about this one

IIRC I think it was 2 seasons back they were going through how they selected players at the  draft (attributes, combine results etc). They used as example a player that the Tigers didn't pick (and I haven't a clue who the player was/is because I cannot remember it's 2 years back) and why they didn't pick him. This was posted on a couple of the different web-sites.

About a fortnight later or it may have been 3 weeks the HUN ran a story about the player saying the Tigers didn't pick him because of whatever the reasons were at the time (I can't even remember the reasons now) and basically used the stuff off the internet postings for their story.

IMHO it was very poor form by the HUN

I'm not in the gang.

So why did it cause a stir? That seems pretty tame.

What gang. I am not in any gang either so not sure what you mean here  :-\

So why did it cause a stir? That seems pretty tame.

depends on what you define tame as I suppose.

As I said I cannot remember the exact details of what was said and to be honest 2 years on I really don't care it's over  ;D but IMO I think at the time it had more to do with the way the HUN wrote the story, the tone of the story towards the player and the fact of how the HUN got the story (trolling forums like this one  ;D)

Also in fairness I have been going to Club80 for a long time (probably 6-7 years) and I can honestly say this "what gets said here stays here" or as some people here keep saying "being sworn to secrecacy" has been in place for as long as I've been going and it had never been an issue until that HUN story.

If you want to find out information from the club 'inner sanctum' you need to follow the rules. I understand that. If you can't then I guess you just have to try and take the pee out of others on message boards for doing so  :shh ;) Club80's open to anyone who wishes to join as far as I know and well worth the price.  :whistle

Inner sanctum :lol WTF do you think Club 80 is? You get a bit of insight but nothing that makes you more important than the average fan. Geez, you're not getting much of value out of it. If I want to find something out I will ask someone who actually knows a thing or two and actually gives some good info ;D

Sworn to secrecy is the biggest load of horse poo I have ever heard in my life. So many people who attend C80 reckon they're bloody brilliant in doing so. The whole "we can't say anything, it's the clubs wishes" poo that some people come out with makes me laugh. It's as if they think they've just heard something ground breaking. Give me a spell

I can see the point of keeping sensitive information confidential, such as draft previews but there is no logical reason to not publish full details of a night such as meet the draftees.

If anything to publish details would provide excellent promotion for CLub 80 and encourage other people to join and it would have no impact on the people who already attend as being there in person is never going to compare with reading a report.

For example a country Tiger like me would have to go to a considerable effort to attend a Club 80 function and I would be more likely to if I read reports on the forums from people I am familiar with.

The secret nature of Club 80 doesn't do it any favours in my opinion and is always going to attract ill feeling from ruffians and barbarians such as Davey.

Not having a go at you lads, just the organisers of Club 80 (which may well be you).  :cheers

Nah not me TBR - I just go to the functions

I understand what you are saying and honestly I can see both sides. I will say I see this "secret nature" as being something that has been blown out of all proportion.

I can see people's frustration which IMHO is fueled to a large degree by people saying "gee it was a great night but I can't tell you what was said or happened". Then why do they bother mentioning it at all  ;D

I can also see Club80's point of view in that they work hard to get the guests and want to ensure those who pay get value for their $$$. I actually dont see it any differently to when the Club has run forums; like they did for the logo launch and the first thing they say is "you can't tell anyone".

I suppose in a way it comes down to a bit of common sense. Sometimes it's just up to the individual to use common sense rather than trying to big note themselves on an internet forums. Sometimes I go to these things and I'll hear something and the first thing I think of is "sh_it dont' think he should have said that".

Not sure what this all has to do with Piva Wright  :huh but the Club80 money goes towards the footy department IIRC so if supporters want some extra info and listen to talks from staff and players inside the club and are willing to pay for the privilege then good for them as it helps the Club. The player was Koby Stevens from memory who was pick 23? for the Eagles and the Herald-Sun put the comment about why we didn't pick him on their backpage IIRC  ::).

Sworn to secrecy LMFAO :lol

Sorry Davey but you are one of the posters who constantly brings up the "sworn to secrecy" chestnut.  :thumbsup

Inner sanctum :lol WTF do you think Club 80 is? You get a bit of insight but nothing that makes you more important than the average fan. Geez, you're not getting much of value out of it. Davey, I actually think this is a good post and although I don't agree with everything you've said I think you've hit a nail and it's something I mentioned in my reply to TBR.

I will repeat I reckon this whole "sworn to secrecy" thing has been and is blown out of all proportion.

Why? Because as I said I don't understand why people have to constantly say "gee it was a great night but I can't say anything". IMHO there's no need to say that. I actually find it a bit condescending whether it's intentional or not

And I think in way that's what you are saying (apologies if I am way of the mark) when you say:

"So many people who attend C80 reckon they're bloody brilliant in doing so.

Can I say first up I don't think you are not being fair lumping everyone who attends into the same basket but I will grant you that there are probably people who believe that again intentionally or not...but can I say it isn't just with people who attend Club80  ;D You should come along to some of the business functions (non footy related) I have to attend

As for Club80 I reckon they get a bum rap because of this "in house info" request

End of the day all the money raised by Club80 goes directly to the footy dept (it paid for the computer software for the trackers the players wear) and if that means all people have to do is keep their collective traps shut and leave their egos at the door then so be it

Well done to Club80 IMHO
