Southport?
Interesting isnt it.
They are one of the richest clubs in the country (including AFL clubs), but surprising have a QLD team in the comp.

Also, is 4 byes enough ? LOL

AFL were stupid and idiotic not getting Southport involved as the Gold Coast team as they were already a well established team.
Apparently the AFL thought the fans of the other QAFL clubs on the Gold Coast wouldn't get behind a Southport AFL team. So they went for a new team for the whole region instead after North said no to relocating.

Interesting that the NRL have gone the other way with the Redclffe Dolphins joining the NRL next year.  Most QLD state cup supporters wouldn't dream about supporting the Dolphins so will be interesting to see how they go compared to, say, the GC Suns

Q1 | BH 3 RICH 9

Both teams are searching for a way to score, conditions are still very wet under foot.

Whilst we'd like a goal, so would they. Still a close contest here in the first.

Quarter time

Greasy conditions haven't been conducive to high scoring but the intensity and pressure around the ball has been right up.

Matt Parker the sole goal scorer of the game thus far.

RICH: 1.3 (9)
BOX: 0.4 (4)

Pickett hard at it - a couple of crunching tackles
Sampson done some good things down back and in ruck
Caddy involved
Stack a few things
Sonsie has great skills
RCD a few things but quiet in general

Half-time

HT: A five-goal quarter from Box Hil sees them lead by 19 points.

Matt Parker remains our sole goal kicker with two.

RICHMOND:   1.3   2.4 (16)
BOX HILL:      0.4   5.5 (35)

https://twitter.com/RichmondVFL

Their fwds started taking some marks
Our mids dropped off - but RCD more involved that qtr.
Despite score, some good ball movement from our guys. Frees (mostly there) killing us. Mansell ok that qtr too.

From BF.
