Is 2-4 the end of the world....or is there still hope ?
« on: May 01, 2014, 07:35:27 PM »
Look  ,there is little doubt we will go 2-5 after the game on Sunday.

Then comes Melbourne and GWS to make it 4-5 ( fingers crossed)....if we are 2-7 , we will probably have a new coach.

I like many OERites have been less than impressed with what the club has dished up in 2014...but can it be turned around.

History does say yes...let me present exhibit A - Fremantle 2006

After round 13 the Dockers find themselves 10th on the ladder with a 6-7 record with coach Chris Connolly under the pump big time.

Dockers then win the next 9 games in a row to finish the season with a 15-7 record and find themselves in 3rd place.

Even more ridiculous is exhibit B-Brisbane 2001

The Lions lose a close match to Adelaide in round 9 and slump to 4-5. Brisbane do however win every match for the rest of the year including 2 finals and the grand final...also win the following two premierships... and are runners up the year after that

Personally think we will drop one of GWS or Melb and then the season is shot

I'm happy to kick the chair under WAT if he's hanging from the ceiling after we go 2 and 7  ;D
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

No game is a certainty when we're losing games to teams like GC and the Doggies.

We are on track to repeat 2002 the year after our finals season of 2001.
Win 15 games in 01 make it 16 with a final. 7-15 in 2002. Two years later a sppon.

7-15 this year with a couple of nothing wins in July/ August.

Split Enz had a song about History repeating. It was written about us.

was always going to be the problem making finals with a very average list. covered over a lot of cracks and sent us down the wrong stuff in the road. its not too late to turn around and take the right stuff but it will mean plenty of short term pain. they just dont have the balls or vision to do that.
it is scary at just how similar the situation is to the frawley yrs and the wallace yrs.

make no mistake we have some vgood footballers and it should not be too hard to build a side around them but it wont be in a yr or two time.
we stopped our rebuild well short of where we needed to stop because finals came along. finals just papered over the many cracks. it was always the concern going into this yr.

So you are saying we will beat Geelong?

We can't even beat an egg, so how are we going to beat Geelong?

I said if we can win the next 4-5 ........we re a chance, if jack can kick 7 and astbury holds Hawkins to <2 and we contain Johnson and selwood, we re right in it  :shh

If I pick 6 numbers all in the same square and those numbers in that square get drawn out in no particular order on Saturday I'll win the lottery.

It's easier to win the lottery come Saturday night than for this RFC side to beat Geelong on Sunday let alone win 4 or 5 on the trot after that.

Club has seriously gone backwards over the last period and I fear an elongated period of no finals again.
