Captain Trent Cotchin attributes his club's late-season improvement to a rise in expectations on players which has been driven by the leadership group.

He told Fox Footy there has been a deliberate effort to make drastic improvements after starting the season so badly.

“It’s not to say our standards were poor at the start of the year but there has certainly been more of a focus on driving those standards from our leaders but also through our core players.”

If you're losing to Melbourne and Western Bulldogs, your standards are poor.

if you can only string wins together against generally dog poot sides then your standards are still poor.

I thought our improvement came from a soft draw
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
