Well-travelled Tigers believe they can beat anyone: EllisTim Roman with AAP
June 30, 2015 3:59 PMRICHMOND midfielder Brandon Ellis says big wins over Fremantle and the Sydney Swans this month have given the Tigers a major confidence boost.
After a poor start to the season, Richmond has won five of its past six games and will start favourites against GWS this Saturday at the MCG.
"We believe every week that we can beat whoever we're up against, especially now that we've beaten Freo and Sydney - two of the best teams in the competition," Ellis said on Tuesday.
"We're not always looking up to our stars to get us over the line every week.
"It's our second and third tier players that are stepping up now.
"Anything's possible, but we've just got to keep working on what we can control, and we're focused this week on GWS and beating them."
Ellis didn't deny that the Tigers had set out to make last Friday night's big win a particularly niggly affair against the Swans.
"That's just part of the game," he said.
"The boys love doing it so if there's a chance, then why not do it?"
"They (the Swans) did bully us in the first half and we weren't going to cop it any more, so we just thought we'd come out and play the way we wanted to play - I guess what they did to us, we did to them in the second half.
The Tigers have won five of their last six games and Ellis said Jack Riewoldt's form had been a big factor in their resurgence.
"Jack's been awesome this year, I guess he just kicked straight on the weekend (against the Swans)," he said.
"If he can do that every week, then he's always going to kick bags".
