Ask the coach: Richmond's Damien Hardwick to answer your questions

AFL.com.au
January 28, 2016

HAVE you got a burning question for your coach on the eve of the season?

AFL Media’s #AskTheCoach social media series continues on Thursday with Richmond coach Damien Hardwick to take the hot seat at around 12:40pm AEDT.

Over the next few weeks, coaches will take over the AFL Facebook Page and Twitter account to answer the best fan questions directly. Which of your draftees are likely to get a run? Who is looking at a different role this year? This is your chance to hear it straight from the coach.

Hardwick, who is entering his seventh season as Richmond coach, is still searching for his first finals win with the Tigers losing elimination finals in each of the past three seasons.

Keep an eye out for a special Facebook Q&A post on the AFL page on Thursday morning, or tweet your question for Hardwick now on Twitter using the hashtag #AskTheCoach.

Why don't you do it, seeing it riles you so much more than the rest of the world

Why would we ask him a question you've already repeated answered on this forum?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The Q&A with Dimma:

‏@TsarKaden - Hi dimma, how are the new draftees faring in the preseason?

Dimma - All have shown the reasons why we brought them to our club. All have had moment where they’ve caught our attention.

‏@RussoCam - Does David Astbury have a key role to play in defence this year along side Rance and Chaplin?

Dimma - Dave as a developing tall we believe will have a standout season. Training very well, looking forward him in NAB Cup

@areyoupunkrock -  through all your years of coaching, who has been the best to coach? Skills and etc.

Dimma - I think probably from a skills standpoint we’re probably lucky to have players such as Cotchin, Deledio & Martin.

@fantasyfan518 - How had Brandon Ellis' pre-season been? Will he at times play more of an inside role this year?

Dimma - Great question. For the progression of Brandon as a player that he should see some more inside time this year.

@kirkry04 - how do you feel our club is placed compared to last year? I feel that our depth is the best ive seen it.

Dimma - I would agree. Made an additional 9 changes this year and I think our overall talent once again has improved.

@joel6937- how is Connor menadue tracking this preseason? He seems an exciting prospect with his run and carry.

Dimma - He’s had a great pre-season. He’s put on some size and training like an AFL player. We expect a big season from him.

The Q&A with Dimma:

‏@TsarKaden - Hi dimma, how are the new draftees faring in the preseason?

Dimma - The numbers tell me that Daniel Rioli is 100-1 for the Rising Star award, need I say more?

‏@RussoCam - Does David Astbury have a key role to play in defence this year along side Rance and Chaplin?

Dimma - Can you not use Astbury and Chappy in the same sentence as Alex Rance. Ew, that q must've tasted like a mother in laws kiss. I see Astbury as the Simon Eastaugh of our list. 29 games in 10 years on AFL lists. Let's hope it's with 3 clubs.

@areyoupunkrock -  through all your years of coaching, who has been the best to coach? Skills and etc.

Dimma - I think probably from a skills standpoint im probably lucky to have Ben & Peg to coach through contract renewals

@fantasyfan518 - How had Brandon Ellis' pre-season been? Will he at times play more of an inside role this year?

Dimma - Great question. next.

@kirkry04 - how do you feel our club is placed compared to last year? I feel that our depth is the best ive seen it.

Dimma - I would agree. We have more money than ever. Particularly salary cap room.  We even had to top up Tyros contract to get to the minimum this year  ;D

@joel6937- how is Connor menadue tracking this preseason? He seems an exciting prospect with his run and carry.

Dimma - Noone is going to run to the interchange bench faster than Connor this year. We just need to work on him being more careful when cutting the oranges. He has had 5 lacerations in 4 weeks.

I doubt it was him at all answering these questions... Not one "Look!" Or "from our perspective" in any of those answers.
The club that keeps giving.
