WCE vs Rich- scores out of 10
« on: April 15, 2016, 11:09:19 PM »
Astbury 5 did OK until the ankle
Rance 7 week in week out our best defender
Chaplin 2 would be lucky to get a game in the seniors at suburban level
Vlastuin 2 is having a horror patch, to be fair was under ridiculous pressure anytime the ball went near him
Houli 2 was unable to give us any run tonight
B. Ellis 3 not good enough
Grigg 1 totally ineffectual
C. Ellis 2 needs to get stronger to make it at this level
McIntosh 6 one of our better players
Lambert 3 one of a number of recycled hacks that will we will probably now need to get us through a rebuild
Martin 7.5 our best and only decent mid
Moore 1 horrible
Riewoldt 4 junk time Jack
Lloyd 3 good 1st half, didn't see him in the 2nd
Vickery 2 useless
Hampson 1 shat himself and got what he deserved
Edwards 2.5 had a great 3rd quarter,  needs to multiply x 4
Cotchin 3 is vying with Taylor Hunt for worst user of the ball at the club
Rioli 3 am yet to see any of this defensive pressure that everyone keeps waffling on about
Menadue 2 got found out tonight, still needs to put on another 8-10kgs to be competitive at the level
Hunt 1 I've seen a few bums get a game at rfc. This guy is the worst of them
Lennon 3 is a good player at the wrong club

Very harsh on C Ellis. Thought he, Rioli and McIntosh were about the only positives. Jack, Rance and Cotch all tried hard as well

C.Ellis- yeah maybe, was a bit better than last week, just got pushed off the ball to easily
Cotch- sometimes the harder he tries, the worse his disposal gets

We are slowly but surely creating a team which contains no elite players, other clubs are increasing their count, therein lies our problem, lack of star power, the types of players who drag teams with them to perform against the odds. Its quite obvious to me until we get more of these types of players were are always going to win the participation award but nothing else.

I don't really give out points for trying, this is the AFL, not the under 10 encouragement award.
Jack got 3 possessions in the 1st half and he does not go for a contest unless he thinks he can mark it. Not good enough, get in there and get a fist on it.

McIntosh tried his guts out and was mighty in attack, but his tackling is laughably bad. Never seen a bloke his size get shrugged off and  fall of so many tackles, never seen a bloke get sidestepped as much as he does. He's not the only one and it's long been a Richmond problem but he's arguably the most noticeably poor tackler.

we have star power. Cotch was runner up (arguably winner) of 2012 brownlow. Martin is a gun. jack is a gun. Rance is a gun. Right now the issue is either coaching or attitude/mentality.

Many times our players should kick it to a 50/50 but instead they handball to a player under more pressure or kick to a 3 on 1. Our kick to handball ratio is absolute poohouse. Martin one of the most strongest and explosive players was ineffective tonight. Not helped by the fact Rance has to carry a backline (astbury was serviceable except for that shocking kick to to opposition) and Jack only gets a possession when he plays on the wing or HB.

The team needs to grow some balls and kick the god damn ball even to a 50/50 because this handball happy gamestyle is killing us

Agreed with most of your scores until you got to Jack, where you lost all sensibility.

Did you notice the inside 50 count? Especially in the first half? Jack is a forward and was two-out at basically every contest because WCE knew Chaplin is useless and Vickery would let the moment get to him.

No points for trying? What a silly thing to say.

The late goals Jack kicked were damned well deserved for a guy who had more of a crack than probably everybody bar Rance and Dusty.
