Precedent Set
« on: April 17, 2016, 08:21:00 AM »
So Hardwick dropped Miles, though I am not sure he deserved it as there are many in front of him that should have been drooped first. He has also relegated Batch and Morris to the two's until they can either improve or for whatever reason.

Now, has he set a precedent? Should we see the likes of Vickery, B Ellis, Lloyd, Houli, Chaplin, Hunt, (already been there) and perhaps Grigg relegated to the two's until they can either perform or not? If he is not consistent will it create disharmony within the group?

Or will he continue to operate in self preservation mode similar to that of Wallace?

No, he hasn't set a precedent. He has dropped blokes before.

Tough on Lloyd WA. He has been super this year IMO. He has gone from a fringe player to a real contributor. It looks like he has done a mountain of work over summer losing that fat he was carting around and now looks like an AFL player should.
He is definitely one of the positives this year.

Lloyd has been a positive. The kicking to Lloyd on Friday was poor and not to his advantage. Rioli has been a real positive as has been McIntosh. The decision to omit Miles and the decision to replace him with a person who is not proven at AFL level of winning clearances sums up the poor decision making at the club. It is even more incredible as it is known in the industry to beat the Eagles you need to win the clearances and further Hardwick should have been well aware that the Eagles were going to dominate ruck contests and therefore prepare for that fact. It appeared to be that it was only Cotch who was capable of winning clearances on Friday. The defensive mindset of Hardwick eg in bringing Moore and Hunt-neither noted for their skills- is  hurting the development of this club.

I agree with bt and eliminator in saying that Lloyd has been a big positive this year. When the game was to be won on Friday, funnily enough the forwards did a good job.  From only 8 inside fifties they kicked 3 goals which is not a bad conversion rate.

The problem was we couldn't get it down there......
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Grigg has been dropped before. Ty has had time in twos. Dimma does drop players, just waits far too long to do it.

Lloyd has been ok, what about the rest of them, why doesn't he make the call against B Ellis or Grigg when he is down, Vickery has been average, Edwards needs some time in the two's as he is all out of sorts, Chaplin is only there at the moment for numbers and has shown little. Lennon being left out round one is another example. He cant just keep carrying the same players like he did with Newman and the like.

Hardwick has been inconsistent withe the selection process and that was evident with Miles. He still has his favorites and that is evident.

Let's see if he has the guts to drop Vlastuin and Ellis B

Both have been shocking this season.

If there is a so called precedent, then they should be dropped, no ifs buts or maybes

That's what I mean. If he can drop Miles then the two you mentioned must go!
