7news said Nank copped a knock to his left knee. They showed him wearing a compression bandage around it. Nank didn't mention it though in his interview so hopefully it's nothing.

Put this one in the Nank-tank

If you want a ruckman to make his presence felt in a physical contest you call for Toby Nankervis. If you want a big man to drop in a hole to cut off opposition scoring thrusts you call for Toby Nankervis. If you want a dexterous and creative forward to put their hand up for Goal of the Year you don't call for Toby Nankervis. Or maybe you do. 'Nank the Tank' kicked one out of somebody else's box on Saturday, winning a boundary throw in close to goal, tapping it again out of opposition hands, then throwing his leg at the ball mid-air only to see it sail through from the angle. It may not win the car, but it should at least deliver a big-screen TV!

Huge game by the big fella, think he took it on him self to ensure we didnt have a last qtr fade out, first of the tackle in the forward line where he subsequently goaled and then back in the back line to take a big mark

Agree. The one thing overlooked with that tackle was that it was Nank's second effort. He laid one tackle then got around that Bulldog player to lay the second tackle which he won the HTB free for. It's was all heart, determination and desperation. As you say Chucky it set the example for the rest of the team in the last quarter.

NANKERVIS KNOCKS

Nankervis was looking worse for wear following an accidental clash of heads with Brayden Cook midway through the second term.

Nankervis went off to have his head strapped and had to go off a couple of times for the blood rule. When the third quarter started, Nankervis was still receiving treatment before sprinting to the centre-square to contest the opening ruck, sans strapping but with his stitched-up nose looking slightly misaligned.

“I'M NEVER GOING TO CHANGE THE WAY I PLAY FOOTY”: TIGER RESPONDS TO CAPTAINCY CRITICISM

By Mae James
SEN
8 May 2022

Toby Nankervis has responded to Kane Cornes' criticism of his appointment as co-captain and his lack of discipline on the field.

Nankervis has given away 19 free kicks from eight games this year, the second most in the competition so far, prompting Cornes to question the ruckman’s discipline.

“Nankervis is another one that I’m watching as well, (second) most free kicks in the competition against – I want influence from my captain – I don’t want the oxygen sucked out of the game by a captain giving away a sloppy free kick,” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.

“It’s just a one to understand how important that role is.”

While Nankervis himself described that criticism as fair, he told Cornes that he won’t be changing his tried and tested game.

“As a footy club I think we have been giving away too many free kicks, especially early in the year, footy is hard enough without giving the opposition a free ball,” he said on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.

“It’s something in my game that I’ve been trying to address the last couple of years especially.

“There’s no mistake that I know my role in the team’s discipline, and I definitely don’t want to be giving away free kicks if I can avoid it.

“I'm never going to change the way I play footy, but I want to be a disciplined fair player.

“Each week I sit down and (think), clearly, I don’t want to be giving away any free kicks, but I don’t want to change the way I play either.”

Nankervis has been finding his feet as the newly appointed Tigers co-captain alongside Dylan Grimes, and he says he’s been loving the leadership role.

“I think it’s working really well,” Nankervis said of the partnership.

“Clearly ‘Cotch’ (Trent Cotchin) had done such an amazing job for so many years and I suppose we are still finding our feet a little bit.

“I really love having ‘Grimesy’ alongside me and we are still learning each week and making mistakes and growing, no doubt about that, still plenty of growth left but I really love the role.”
