A ruckman that doesn't take decisive marks around the ground isn't helping the team as they should. Granted he goes in and his contested work has always been good but don't give away the free kicks. What's  the norm for a ruckman as well as taking crucial marks around the ground either down the line or in defence ie. 2020 preliminary final 4 marks helping us over the line
Time to make Balta a permanent ruckman.

If you do the leg work and look up marking stats for rucks then i think you will be surprised at how few most of them take.
There are some ouliers that go both ways but Nankervis is nowhere near the bottom.

Regarding drafting ruck men, I think 18yo ruck men are not up to it, they take too long to develop and when young are injury prone.
We need to be looking for a 24/25 year old who is not getting opportunity elsewhere as per Toby.

I am sure our club has a view on who is in the mix

I disagree i think you need to do both.

Most list have enough room for four ruckmen most have a genuine fwd ruck in that 4.

Incumbent ruck Nankervis, Mature  or at least developing  back up ruck Ryan a bust so far , Junior ruck of which we dont have one,  and of course the fwd/ruck at this point in time Sims.
It says to me depending on how you rate Ryan the need for both a mature back up and a highly promising one to develop. Then of course there is the long term mature project cat b basketballer which imo is an exercise in feeling good.
