The more i think about it the more i like the deal.

Say Geelong finish 3rd its pick 16.

Pick 16 for a key fwd who is 25 and over the last 3 years averages 2.4 goals a game. Yes that was fed from a rampant hawthorn midfield but surely would still average 2 goals a game for us with our mids.

So pick 16 for a 40-50 goals per year. Jack kicks 50-60 per year.

No brainer.

As for Tippet, hes 31 next year and a mercenary. Not interested
Works out to be essentially Deledio for Gunston if we went that way. Not so terrible when you do the final sum game.

I'd take Tippet for peanuts and if Syd cover around 60% of the packet. So I don't see it happening.

I'd rather take our picks to draft and back our recruiters who have been ok over the last 2 years. Will Sutherland sounds better than either to be honest.

One thing is for sure.

If we part with anything for Tippet, I will be cancelling my membership.

Just for posterity and so certain posters don't falsely claim they were first again:

Hope Will Sutherland nominates for the draft - 195 cm mid/forward likened to Bontempelli & tipped to go between 10 & 20....just what we need... :shh

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Kurt Tippet
With Swans paying 50% of his salary
Please don't shoot the messenger 😉😂

I'd be okay with that depending on what we give up for him. We're in desperate need of someone on the cheap as back up stuff on top of another few genuine KPP. Let him rot in the magoo's until we need him (provided he doesn't get injured). But knowing the powers to be we'd give up a good pick and have to justify it by playing him every week

He is a very good player when he is on. Hasn't been "on" much this year when the side has really needed him. Today he was fantastic. Kudos to him.

This is exactly what concerns me and what confirms for me something i have thought for awhile "He is a lazy footballer" When was the last time he had stats like this? and what do you know it happens the very next game after people start questioning his trade potential, does he have any value and the like.

This fellow no doubt CAN BE a really good player but he is lazy and has been for a few seasons actually, even when the hawks were doing well, he's a coaster. So therefore I really question his hunger, he has three medals, has nothing to prove, he might just chase the dollars and rest on his laurels, tread carefully.

Gunston's goal average per game at Hawthorn. The Hawks demise has more than halved his goal output.

2012     2.05 goals per game
2013     2.00
2014     2.52
2015     2.38
2016     2.13
2017     0.91

What rubbish

Hawthorn gave up the farm for O'Meara and others.

They tried to stay relevant and contend again. Last years trade period was a Hawthorn disaster.

Think this is wrong they gave up a fair bit for two players granted, but when you offload players like Nitchell and lewis, winning a flag or even top 4 was never the priority for them imo.

As for Gunston fantastic player just about the best third tall fwd in the game and thats what he is a third tall who has been asked to play kp a lot of the time.

People saying he is lazy or hes struggled this yr what a joke he has struggled to kick goals granted but he continues to get plenty of ball and works hard to create a target. If people want a contested marking player or someone who is going to crash packs then he aint your man he is your typical smart hit up and lead tall type who continually moves.
He would be an ideal get for our club,   fair dinkum at 25 with a great record people around here are really underselling him as a player and what he is worthand to be honest i think people arekidding themselves if they think the Hawks would trade him out he would be a required player at any club.

If he played for Richmond you would say he's soft and doesn't apply enough defensive pressure.
