Saints murdered us last night . We've been so good at pressuring other teams into mistakes all year - it was strange to see the shoe on the other foot.

When the score was 92 -10 last night it was reminiscent of the Geelong 2007 disaster where the Cats put on 20 goals by halftime.

No way St Kilda are that good.  The body of work this year would suggest we aren't that pathetic.

This isn't a crisis  . It's a wake up call . A reality check .

Im confident we will win the next two .

Ill make a bit of a statement here. This year is probably the first year ive watched 6 or 7 games per week thanks to foxtel and foxtel replay.

Its not about how many we have won or might win in the next fortnight.

Its about deeper fundamental issues of how we could turn up and play so bad. An ongoing fragility. Our worst football like last night is probably worse than the worse football of any other side. Even Brisbanes worse is more accountable.

Wins will occur for us for the rest of the season and possibly more often than not but there is a real fragility and lack of accountability that has shone through in 5 games this year, nearly everygame last year and in important games previously. For this reason there is something deeply wrong with the club and that is an ongoing unresolved crisis that a few wins wont fix.

Our only similar experience this season was against the Crows and we bounced back okay from that. The difference now i think is a few players just look worn out to me, next week will give a good indication of how last nights debacle affects the team. Honestly i feel like we may have run our race, the tactic last night by the Saints was essentially to go one on one but then overlapping and playing on at all times in addition to applying manic pressure without the ball. It was like Richmond of the last few weeks vs Richmond, last night we panicked in possession and continually rushed kicks down the line where we are obviously weak in the area of contested marking and when we did have time we butchered the ball. i believe the Saints kicked in excess of 10 goals from our direct turnovers. Overall I think we do have the game to trouble most teams but its a game plan that requires hard work plus good execution and the minute you have players not prepared to put in that hard work or falling down with their skills then it just falls apart as we clearly saw last night.

It's true. The hawks were much more proven than us though

No it doesn't, but it does make us look vunerable to opposition supporters...
I was going to say but weve said it so many times about a line in the sand game. In fact theres been so many lines drawn its all a blur..
Think they just had an off game and to be fair i could tell in the girst couple of mins just like the FTF game against blues.

We'll bounce back and win the games we should but noy so sure about top 4 now

We were as bad as Gold Coast against Essendon 2011 in the first half last night.
As bad as a side in its first ever year as an AFL team.
Not 1 leader stood up - Rance, Jack, Cotch or Dusty. They were horrible.
That's my concern.
Dimma may not like it but Kane Cornes has a point as he saw it in the Power a month earlier.

But then each side has had lamentable performances this year - we can't conveniently forget the Crows against Roos or Demons, the Cats against the Bombers or Pies and of course GWS could easily be 6 and 9 after losing in round 1 by 9 goals.

So, thank god none of you losers are coaches is all I can say because slashing your wrists and berating the players is why Norf are 17th after an encouraging but unlucky first month  ;D
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

:cheers  :thumbsup

It's the stench of mediocrity that has stained the walls. Like going into a house when someone cooked vindaloo curry, when you walk out your clothes smell like chicken curry. Or once I had to visit a hoarders house and after counting 20 cats I had to go outside for fresh air the stench was so unbearable. I reckon I could smell that stench for another 5 days despite showering and washing my clothes numerous times.

The stench of mediocrity is ingrained and the players, coaches and all the walls are all infected by it. They can't escape from it.
The club that keeps giving.

I agree EeA. I think we have banked enough brownie points this season to be able to say, it was just a horrible night and lets move on, we know we're a lot better than that. My biggest concern is how much we fell away. Every side has bad days, its part of footy these days, but very good sides arent down by 14-15 goals at half time.

It is concerning that we as a club have this stigma about us where everyone: opposition supporters, media and even our own supporters are just expecting us to stuff it up at some stage.
