Shai plays more midfield now and is worth more to the team there.
Lambert, Martin, Edwards, Caddy, Bolton their primary role is as mids. RC-D if he can rotate fwd but play primarily as a mid would offer a real point of difference at 190cm plus as well.
We dont have a lot of players on the list whose primary role is fwd first and foremost
Talls - Riewoldt, Lynch are about it. Some say Chol but imo he is neither a ruck or a fwd just not good enough in either role. CC-J surely he is PRIMARILY a ruckman who can go fwd and thats what we are ultimately looking at him to be.
Mediums - imo Cumberland as a junior was primarily playing as a fwd and maybe Ralphsmith as well but it seems the club are looking at developing them more as mids atm.
Smalls - Rioli, Castagna, Aarts, Im not sold on any of them for the same reasons many on here have voiced. and then theres Short and Baker who started as fwds but struggled and are very much defenders now.
What makes top line fwds at the level well i think the best ones are most of the time instinctively natural fwds. take out Lynch and Riewoldt who are natural primary fwds thus have had a lot of success your asking yourself are we seriously short on the list natural well rounded fwds.
Its probably the reason why mids Lambert Bolton Edwards Martin Caddy have spent so much time fwd as there a few other options.
