No issue at all

If it means the game's in Victoria then go for it
What difference does that make?

Means players are in their own homes and with their families

That's a good thing

Tom Browne on Ch 7 just now said the same thing. The AFL wants the game at the MCG. He also said those at the Cattery will be disappointed  :snidegrin.

Good to see someone at the AFL knows that the majority of decisions Shocking made were in a bid to bring down Richmond for Geesook's benefit and have had enough.

Cats should be furious over lack of AFL integrity

They can’t get home finals and now, when no crowds are allowed at football, they can’t get a home game played at home. It’s not right, writes Mark Robinson.

------------------------------

Sam Edmund on SEN said Geelong are still sooking about this.

The AFL has said they have contractual and commercial (signage) reasons why they game needs to be at the M.C.G.

Geelong are 100% right to be filthy about this

It’s a Geelong home game

Correct.
And they are happy to put their money out for the funds that come their way when AFL equalisation grants that tin pot operation a subsidy for not being able to stand on their own 2 feet.
To contribute back, they gain games at the MCG and also the profit that teams with real supporters like Richmond provide by giving them large crowds.
Seems to me, Cats want the cake, cream and the canary all at once.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

WHY AFL REJECTED GEELONG’S REQUEST TO HOST RICHMOND AT GMHBA STADIUM

By Alex Zaia
SEN
19 July 2021

The AFL has rejected Geelong’s request to move their Round 19 clash against Richmond from the MCG to GMHBA Stadium, reports SEN’s Sam Edmund.

The Cats are scheduled to host the Tigers at the MCG on Sunday which is almost certain to be played without a crowd due to Victoria’s latest COVID outbreak.

Edmund understands that a “commercial consideration” around signage was a sticking point as well as a contractual obligation for the AFL to play a certain number of matches at the MCG.

“The Cats put the request in. They’re frustrated to say the least,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“They’re told they can’t play the game there because there’s a commercial consideration around signage. The Cats don’t own all of the signage at the ‘G, so there will be signage issues and sponsorship issues at the MCG.

“And the contract stipulates a certain number of games need to be held at the MCG as well, so there would need to be a make-up game.

“As we’ve seen, they’ve got no hesitation in taking games from other venues.

“The question has to be asked: What happens come finals time, and we hope this isn’t the case, but if there are no crowds allowed in and the Cats finish top two or they get a home final – do they get a home final?”

Melbourne great Garry Lyon said in response: “No-brainer.”

Richmond’s last game at GMHBA Stadium was a loss to Geelong in Round 21 of the 2017 season - the year they broke their 37-year premiership drought.

The Cats beat the Tigers in this year’s first Grand Final rematch by 63 points in Round 8.
