Dimma's post-match presser:Watch here: https://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/1094199/round-3-hardwick-post-match-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Lost contests. Down 17 in contested ball and then -25 after Grimesy went off.
* St Kilda in the last quarter transitioned from the back half at 44%. So our backs are trying to defend 1-on-1 against quick ball movement.
* So that sums up the last quarter. You can lose contests but your pressure has to be right up there. Ours was only 1.67. So if you lose both of those you're in a bit of trouble.
* It is frustrating but for 3 quarters it was pretty bloody good. So the disappointing last quarter will be the overriding thing to come out of the game but for 3 quarters we were very competitive against a pretty good side. So we've got a few things we can work on but there's some things we did well today as well.
* Grimesy's hammy - not too sure how much time he will miss. Wait for scans and see what the medicos say.
* Max King was on the back of some good work. When they transition easily from the back half the ball is coming in without pressure. You could be Alex Rance, Steve Silvagni and all those guys and you're not going to have a chance. Our guys are trying their best but when you've got a clear leading lane and a crisp pass you and me could get that kick and mark. Don't get me wrong King is a special player and he's finishing was elite as well. So it's easy to look at the outcome but there's bigger issues further upfield for us at that stage.
* Gresham got more it. We got overrun. We had to move Broady deeper who was very good for us. We just couldn't get it done. Their forwards were very good and they moved the ball extremely well in the second half especially that last 1.5 quarters. What they do well is they win contests and as soon as they get a sniff they're gone. When they get the game on their terms in the contests they are hard to stop. So all credit to them.
* The competition is even. Sometimes you're going to come up against a side that is travelling very well and there's other sides that aren't travelling well. It's too early to predict. They are a good side. When they are playing their best footy they are a very capable side and a capable side in contending. As are 15-16 other sides us included. When you have a bit of an off quarter like we did tonight it certainly can hurt you on the scoreboard the other way.
* Last quarter fade-outs?
I'd like to say not to read too much into it but as you say it's happened. So we'll go to work. Carlton game was contested ball and fundamentals and today was the same. So we'll look at those contests. Funnily enough there were stages where we had an outnumber at those contests but just couldn't win it. They were cleaner, tougher and got the ball forward. So there's things we've got to better in that one.
* Stack - didn't play VFL due to being a close contact.
* Riewoldt - wanted to play but Dimma didn't think he was right. Jack wasn't happy as he's very competitive. He could be missing two fingers and want to play. He's a warrior. He'll back into the side next week.
* We'll look at the 3 talls. It worked at stages. Is 5 too many? We'll go through it and see what works for us. Look at the opposition and what presents there. Work our way through it at selection. We've got 6 days to come up against a good Bulldogs outfit that was good the other night.
* Dusty - no nothing new.
